Selena — ignore critics who diss you for opening the door on your Justin Bieber heartache. It is courageous -NOT unempowered- to honestly reveal the emotional agony that you’ve been going through! Here’s why.
Selena Gomez: You Were Brave To Reveal Pain In New Song
You have never sounded better, looked more beautiful or been more honest.
And it’s your unflinching honesty about the emotional agony that you’ve been going through with Justin Bieber for three years of ups and downs, which makes this video such an act of courage.
It is rare for a celebrity — even a musical artist — to so unflinchingly reveal the depth of their heartbreak about someone they love and are still involved with.
Selena, you admitted in your radio interview with Ryan Seacrest today, Nov 6, that “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” is about Justin and that he has even viewed your video and thinks it’s “beautiful.”
He and now the world have been given a poignant view into the enduring love you have for Justin, even though he has you “scattered in pieces,” and feeling “shattered” and “crazy.”
“You got me sipping on something, I can’t compare to nothing I’ve ever known, I’m hoping that after this fever I’ll survive,” you sing while looking directly into the camera, with tears running down your face.
“Hand over heart, I’m praying, that I’m going to make it out alive,” you sing softly.
And Selena, I can see that you’re not kidding. You are so deeply, passionately in love that you really don’t feel alive without Justin.
You literally sing that! “I’m not alive until you call,” and “But I can’t imagine a life without breathless moments.”
And your softly focused black and white video shows you feeling so alive when you’re kissing, caressing and being held by your scruffily casual lover (your Bieber stand-in), and then so soulfully sad because you know your moment of happiness, won’t last.
Your video and song reflect exactly the history of what has happened in your tortured on and off relationship with Justin.
You two can’t live without each other, but can only live blissfully with each other for a mere couple of months at a time.
Sadly Selena, so many young women know exactly how you feel and have experienced or are experiencing the very same agonizing love relationships with their own guys.
Selena: You Treasure Precious Moments Like Many Women
Unrequited love is something every young woman goes through. We all have “That Guy” who is “The One”, that we are convinced, that we just can’t live without. That guy who is the only one we can ever truly love. And who we think is the only one who will ever truly love us back.
Selena, you, like so many young women, treasure those precious moments of loving intimacy and think that you’ll never have those deep feelings for any other guy, for the rest of your life.
That’s why you hang on, even though Justin hasn’t been true to you, over and over again.
“There’s a million reasons why I should give you up, but the heart wants what it wants,” you pensively confess, even though Justin shatters your confidence and makes you feel crazy; “You make me feel like it’s my fault.”
Selena, you know that your best friend Taylor Swift and your family are right — you SHOULD give Justin up.
I think it’s amazing that you’re admitting that you know that on a sensible level. Nevertheless, you still can’t do it. Your heart won’t let you.
It’s a courageous confession. And it’s one that your fans identify with.
Selena — congrats for bravely opening up your broken heart and expressing your honest feelings. HollywoodLifers — do you agree that this was a very “emotional” move? Let me know.
