The Oct. 30 episode of ‘Scandal’ featured matters of the heart, emotional Olitz showdowns and Bitsy freakin’ Cooper.
After weeks of finding their footing in season four, the Oct. 30 episode of Scandal was classic. Olivia (Kerry Washington) continued her quest to track down Jake (Scott Foley), Abby (Darby Stanchfield) one-upped Cyrus (Jeff Perry) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn), Mellie (Bellamy Young) met a new friend by the name of Bitsy Cooper, Rowan (Joe Morton) proved he’s the ultimate puppet master in Washington and someone is after Olivia.
‘Scandal’: Sassy Mellie Makes Her Long-Awaited Return
Olivia swimming again in another bathing suit that’s to die for. (I wish I felt safe where a bathing suit like that in a community pool.) Olivia’s having a tough time. She’s making love to both Jake and Fitz in dream sequence. Every Scandal fan’s dream, right?
Unfortunately, Rowan ruins the whole thing and Olivia wakes up suddenly.
She had been calling Fitz all night, but he wouldn’t return her calls. Now that’s a first. It may have been hard for Fitz to answer the phone because of his severely bruised hand. Punching Jake hurts, huh?
But thankfully, Mellie was back and her hair was D-O-N-E. She was back to doing her duties as First Lady and not just eating fried chicken and walking around the White House in Uggs. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)[INSERT POLL HERE align=”right”]
Mellie had things to do! A former President had passed away and she had to plan the funeral. Is that something First Ladies do? Who knew?!
Olivia had a new case of the week, and it was a big one. The now-dead President Cooper was the subject of an assassination attempt. The man who went down for it claimed he was innocent. He said the bullet in Cooper’s head would prove he didn’t do it.
Cyrus was still seeing his boytoy Michael and things were getting serious. Cyrus had set up a bank account for Michael and Cyrus’ stupidity just rose infinite levels. When did he get so stupid? Michael was feeding Elizabeth everything she wanted to hear.
‘Scandal’: Abby Burns Fitz Badly
Meanwhile, Abby confronted Fitz for Olivia to find out where he had taken Jake. She questioned Fitz about Jake, using the whole “you’re going after the man who is currently sleeping with the woman you loved basically because you’re jealous.”
I’m still not believing that Fitz truly believes Jake killed his son. Abby wanted Fitz to tell Olivia what was going on with Jake if he loved her at all.
Olivia took on Leonard Carnahan’s case, even though it was a long shot. She wanted Carnahan to be charged with murder so they could ask for an autopsy on President Cooper’s body.
The real star of this episode came in the form of Bitsy Cooper, President Cooper’s wife. She was a trip, to say the list. President Cooper may have been beloved by the people of America, but what he was doing inside the White House was super scandalous. He was screwing anything that moved. She didn’t want Mellie’s help with the funeral. “You go crochet or vaccinate fat kids,” she to Mellie.
We have a new queen and her name is Bitsy. All hail Bitsy!
Elizabeth went on air and commented on the base closings. Needless to say, Cyrus was pissed and wanted Abby to find out where the leak was coming from. Abby went straight to Olivia for help. Unfortunately, Red came second to Fitz when he showed up at Olivia’s.
Well, well, well, what do we have here. “Falcon’s in the nest,” Fitz’s new Secret Service man said.
I need a minute to process that.
Fitz was there to talk about Jake. Olivia wanted to see him, but Fitz wasn’t going to let that happen. Olivia said she knew Jake the way she knew about Fitz. Fitz did NOT like that.
He had proof about Jake murdering his son. Granted, it was circumstantial, but it was pretty damning.
‘Scandal’: Rowan Pulls The Political Puppet Strings
Elizabeth is up to something serious, but I still have no idea about what that could be. She wanted Mellie to speak out about the base closings and back Fitz into a corner. Mellie gave Elizabeth a big fat no.
Olivia, Huck and Quinn were going all-in to get Carnahan charged with murder. They got hashtags trending on Twitter and the news made it to the White House. Cyrus said it would look good for Fitz to go through with the murder charge.
Bitsy and Mellie were hitting it off just fine. Bity confessed that she was the one to do all the great things that President Cooper was known for. She was the one to do everything, but knew she would only be remembered as the wife of a man who did something with his life. This had Mellie’s mind churning with ideas.
Fitz had a meeting with Rowan about Jake. This should be fun. Rowan wanted Jake (or what he like to call his “dog”) back. He want to punish Jake himself. Fitz wasn’t going for that. He wanted Jake to be tried and executed in front of the world. Rowan was impressed. However, he warned Fitz not to be swayed by anyone. By anyone, he meant Olivia. Rowan told Fitz to let Olivia see Jake, which makes Rowan the master manipulator over everyone.
Carnahan’s case headed to court, with David on the prosecution. Once he got a glimpse of Olivia, David knew he was going down. Poor David.
Just like Rowan had advised, Fitz allowed Olivia to see Jake. He looked super bad. Jake immediately told Olivia about an offshore bank account that had money for his family.
Olivia said he wasn’t going to die, but Jake knew who he was dealing with. It was hard to have hope when you knew you were dealing with not only the leader of the free world, but Rowan Pope.
Then, Jake broke all our hearts.
“We both know in the end, you’re not going to choose me,” he told Olivia.
Goodbye world. Currently trying to rescue myself from a sea of my own tears.
‘Scandal’: There’s Hope
Mellie and Bitsy were drinking martinis and gossiping about their husband’s infidelities. Despite the cheating, Bitsy said it gave her time to run the country. Mellie’s mind just continued to churn.
After so much effort, the autopsy proved that the bullet was from Carnahan’s gun. OLIVIA WAS WRONG. While I am distraught, David was over the moon.
“I out Pope’d, Olivia Pope,” David said. I know, I couldn’t believe it either.
Rowan paid a visit to Jake, so things went from bad to worse for Jake. Even though he pulled the Olivia card, Rowan didnt budge.
After President Cooper’s funeral, Olivia and Fitz had a serious talk. She questioned him about handing Jake over to her father. Fitz still couldn’t understand why Olivia didn’t see Jake as a killer. Because he’s not, duh.
“You and I are ruined,” Fitz said to Olivia. “We don’t have a chance now.
Hold up, not so fast.
Olivia dropped the bombshell that things weren’t completely over between them.
“Are you saying there’s hope?” Fitz asked.
“There’s hope,” Olivia replied.
With that, Olitz is back in session. But is Olivia toying with Fitz’s emotions?!
Fitz retrieved Jake from Rowan’s hands. “Consider it my gift to the woman we love,” Fitz told Jake. Rowan confronted Olivia about this turn of events. “I have weapons you can’t possibly possess,” Olivia told him. BOOM.
Mellie took a hint from Bitsy and started kicking butt and taking names. She discussed the base closings in front of the press just like Elizabeth had wanted.
Once Cyrus caught wind of this, he wanted answers from Abby ASAP. Abby finally won in her battle with Cyrus and revealed that the leak was coming from Cyrus’ end.
Elsewhere in the episode, Huck was distracted with a new video game. Come to find out, he was playing with Javi! So cute!
Quinn was trying to find the locker that the key she had dug out from that girl’s body went to. Quinn finally found the locker and what she found inside was shocking.
There were pictures of Olivia. Hundreds of photos of Olivia. Someone is hunting Olivia and things are about to get dangerous.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of tonight’s Scandal? What is going to Jake? Is there really hope for Olivia and Fitz? Are you happy old Mellie is back? Who is stalking/hunting Olivia? Let us know!
