The parents of Gia Soriano are “devastated” by the death of their 14-year-old daughter. The young student was the second victim to pass away as a result of the tragic Marysville school shooting.
“We are devastated by this senseless tragedy. Gia is our beautiful daughter and words cannot express how much we will miss her,” said the statement from the Soriano family.
“We have made the decision to donate Gia’s organs so that other may benefit. Our daughter was loving and kind and this gift honors her life,” the statement continued. They requested privacy during this difficult time.
Gia died on Oct. 26, hospital officials said, according to NBC News. She had been fighting for her life at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington. She died around 9:30 p.m.
In an eerie turn of events, Gia and Jaylen Fryberg, the shooter, are listed as Facebook friends.
Her taste in music was mostly rap and hip-hop, including Drake, Mac Miller, Lil Wayne, andUsher. Gia’s Facebook also lists that she worked at a Zumiez store, which sells trendy clothing, shoes, and accessories.
Gia was the second victim that was announced dead — the first was Zoe Galasso.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of both Gia and Zoe as well as everybody else involved in this tragic event.
