Elizabeth Pena’s Cause Of Death: Star Reportedly Died From Alcohol Abuse
TMZ has obtained a copy of Elizabeth Pena’s death certificate, which states that she suffered from cirrhosis of the liver “due to alcohol.”
The document sites “cardiopulmonary arrest”, “cardiogenic shock” and “acute gastrointestinal bleeding” as the three other causes of death.
Elizabeth suffered from cirrhosis for months, but her symptoms worsened shortly before she passed away on Oct. 14, TMZ reports. Elizabeth experienced acute gastrointestinal bleeding during her final hours, which in turn caused her heart to stop.
Elizabeth died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, tragically leaving behind her husband, two children, mother, sister and a host of heartbroken fans.

Elizabeth, whose acting credits include La Bamba, Modern Family and Rush Hour, was recently featured in the first season of the El Rey Network’s Matador.
The El Rey Network released a statement to HollywoodLife.com, saying: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague, Elizabeth Peña. She was a role model, a truly extraordinary performer and an inspiration in every sense of the word. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this difficult time. She will be deeply missed.”
