We got the chance to catch up with The Soup’s host, Joel McHale, to find out everything from his recent projects to his experience working alongside Robin Williams — find out what Joel had to say!
Joel McHale, 42, opened up to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about a new project he is very passionate about! He also let us know if he would ever consider leaving his hilarious show, The Soup! Find out what else Joel told us about working with the late and great, Robin Williams!
Joel McHale Remembers Working With Robin Williams In ‘A Merry Friggin’ Christmas’
“He was pretty amazing, one of the best acting experiences I have ever had. Personally, he became a friend and I love the man and he was really somebody that was a very special person and it was an honor to work with him. He was tremendous. He was professional and funny and sweet. In a perfect world, I would have loved to do another one with him,” Joel told us about working with Robin in the film, A Merry Friggin’ Christmas, which is set to release in November.
“He was just so damn supportive every time we did takes, I was like wow I feel like the best actor in the world, if he likes it, it must be good, he’s Robin Williams! He was just really supportive and the for me, that was alone so wonderfully helpful,” Joel continued.
Would Joel Ever Leave ‘The Soup’?
“I don’t know, if the earth was ending, and they said “you have to leave the soup and get on a space ship” then ya! But you know, I enjoy doing it. It’s a once a week hang. We have a great time doing it and I just actually signed a new contract so I am very excited about it. I would yell back at the TV anyways so if someone is paying me for it then I’m thrilled,” Joel told us when we asked him if he would ever stop doing The Soup.
If for some reason he were to leave the show, we asked Joel who he thought would be the best person to replace him. “Daniel Day Lewis, I think he would like to do that! Just kidding. Maybe Meryl Streep.” What a jokester!
Joel’s New Project
Along with acting in movies and hosting The Soup (Wednesdays, 10/9c, E!), Joel is also working with Canon to introduce their new Pixma Pro City Senses printer.
“I have always been an amateur photographer and then ever since I had kids, I started documenting their lives,” Joel told us.
“This printer is amazing you wouldn’t believe it, the technical terms to describe it are f**king amazing. When you print them out, it looks like something that would be hung in an art gallery. When I believe in a product and they want me to be a part of it, for me, it’s a no brainer.”
