It’s official: Bethenny Frankel is officially returning to ‘The Real Housewives Of New York’ — get excited!
After a three-season absence, Bethenny Frankel, 43, is officially joining Season 7 of The Real Housewives Of New York, as Bravo confirmed in a statement early on Oct. 20.
Bethenny Frankel’s ‘RHONY’ Return: Confirms She’ll Be A ‘Housewife’ In Season 7
“After my talk show ended, I really had doubts about ever going back to television,” Bethanny wrote on her personal website. “I’ve been through a lot personally, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to expose myself to any more public scrutiny.”
“That said, I’ve been so fortunate to be able to connect with the audience and inspire them to fulfill their wildest dreams. I learned a lot about myself through that experience. I really need to be able to express myself freely and creatively; I like when no two days are the same, and I don’t thrive when being filtered or edited.
“I also love the ability to be able to focus on all the many aspects of my life and my business, which a talk show didn’t allow for. Most importantly, I missed being on the journey with you all, who were there with me from the beginning.
“After many years of hesitation, I have decided to return to my roots on The Real Housewives of New York City. I have been through a long and arduous road since my departure, and I’m finally coming out on the other side. It finally feels right to go home again.
“The idea of doing the show feels exciting and refreshing, like it did at the beginning all those years ago. New faces, new circumstances, and in many ways, a new me and a new life.
“Thank you for your honesty, for standing by me, laughing and crying with me, supporting me and motivating me.
“I can’t wait to see what the road ahead has in store for us.
“Watch what happens.”
‘RHONY’: Bump In Ratings Sure To Follow
Bethenny’s return will no doubt bump up the ratings for RHONY; the series has suffered a slump in the past few seasons, but as one of the longer-running Housewives installments, that’s to be expected in advance of its 7th season.
“Ironically, I’m never a Housewife when I’m a housewife!” Bethenny joked to Us Weekly about her return. Indeed! When Bethenny first joined RHONY, she was single. She married businessman Jason Hoppy in March 2010, not long before Season 3 — her last, at the time — would finish airing. She and Jason filed for divorce in January 2013, and are still working on splitting up their assets.
Of course, Bethenny was not idle during her Housewives hiatus; she starred in Bravo’s Bethenny Getting Married?, Bethenny Ever After, and Bethenny, her short-lived talk show. In 2011, she sold her Skinnygirl cocktail company for a reported $100 million.
So, it’s pretty doubtful that Bethenny is hurting in the cash flow department; rather, it seems like she’s just genuinely excited to embark on this newest chapter for the fun of it.
‘RHONY’ Casting Changes
Along with Bethenny, it has been reported that Jill Zarin would also make a return to the series. However, this has yet to be confirmed (and outlets are also reporting that Bethenny would have refused to return had Jill also signed on for Season 7.)
Meanwhile, Ramona Singer, 57, has been demoted to a recurring role while Countess LuAnn De Lesseps, 49, will be a regular once more. Aviva Drescher, 44, has been fired, which is really too bad because we would have loved to see Bethenny interact with Aviva’s leg-throwing ways.
So, HollywoodLifers, are you looking forward to Bethenny’s return? Let us know!
