Lea is ready to say goodbye to ‘Glee’! The actress, who proved her versatile talent while guest-starring on the Oct. 14 episode of ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ wants to ‘focus more on movies,’ a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. She even wants to win an Oscar!
Lea Michele, 28, doesn’t want to be pigeonholed as Rachel Barry for the rest of her life. Though her time on Glee has garnered the actress much attention, she’s ready to move on to bigger, “unexpected” roles.
Lea Michele’s Career Plans After ‘Glee’ — What Will The Actress Do Next?
Now that Glee will be airing its final season this January, it seems like perfect timing for Lea to start branching out into different roles! She recently shocked fans during her guest-starring role on Sons of Anarchy, when she played a much darker character than her fans are used to. And it seems like Lea wants to explore this dark side more often!
“[Lea] wants to focus more on movies and wants to do roles that would be unexpected, like what Neil Patrick Harris recently did in Gone Girl. Nobody expected him in that role and he nailed it,” our source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
After watching Lea take on her edgiest role yet on SOA, we totally think she can do anything! Like Lea, Neil Patrick Harris, 41, is a comedic actor with a musical background. Everyone went nuts when they saw him play the creepy Desi Collings in David Fincher‘s Gone Girl. We would die to see Lea play a role like that!
In addition to wanting to take on darker roles, Lea also wants to avoid being typecast for her looks. Instead, she wants to take on roles that will showcase her true talent.
“She wants to not fall into the Jessica Alba mold, where she is in movies for her looks and sexiness. She wants to win Oscars. She imagines competing for the same roles as Anne Hathaway,” our source said.
We love and admire Lea for setting high goals for herself, and we don’t doubt she’ll win an Oscar one day!
Lea Michele On ‘Sons Of Anarchy’
Lea is already getting critics’ attention. Sons of Anarchy executive producer Paris Barclay raved about Lea’s role and how different she was from her role on Glee!
“She brought something totally different from Rachel. I am so excited! I remember seeing her in Spring Awakening when she was just a Broadway actress, and I knew there was a lot deeper actor there then what we have been able to use before or what we have seen on Glee,” Paris told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Lea played a character named Gertie, a waitress at a truck-driver stop diner, who smokes and doesn’t care about her appearance. We love that the gorgeous actress doesn’t limit herself.
So HollywoodLifers, what do YOU think? Would you love to see Lea win an Oscar? Let us know!
