‘Saturday Night Live’: Watch The Show’s Loving Tribute To Jan Hooks
Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast member Jan Hooks passed away on Oct. 9, and the late night show paid tribute to the comedy actress. Click to WATCH the touching homage.
Host Bill Hader, 36, along with special guest Kristen Wiig, 41, took time out of his opening monologue to remember former cast member Jan Hooks, who died on Oct. 9. The show’s tribute included a wonderful short film from 1987 featuring Jan and Phil Hartman.
Jan Hooks Tribute On ‘Saturday Night Live’
“Last Thursday, Jan Hooks, who was on the show for five seasons from 1986 to 1991, passed away,” Bill said during his opening monologue.
“She was one of the best there ever was, and her influence is clear in every one of us who has been here since,” Kristen continued.
Then, they showcased the musical fantasy short film “Love Is A Dream” from the show, featuring Jan and her longtime friend Phil.
This was one of the few times Jan, who was known for her hilarious Sweeney Sisters sketch, was in a serious role. The short film is a gorgeous musical number.
Both Jan and Phil sing in the film and look like the queen and king of SNL. As is the case with all Saturday Night Live short films, it’s a little strange.
This was the perfect way to honor Jan and Phil, two of Saturday Night Live’s most beloved cast members. The tribute was just lovely. We’ll miss you, Jan.
