The designer sent a lovely, red-carpet-ready collection down the runway — and it’s only a matter of time before the label’s celeb fans show it off!
Tadashi Shoji was inspired by the Golden Palace of Venice when crafting his Spring 2015 collection. From the blue hue of Venetian lagoons to the detailing in the historic architecture, elements that spoke to the city were woven throughout the collection, while still staying true to the designer’s aesthetic for crafting glamorous pieces women can’t wait to wear.
Tadashi Shoji’s Spring 2015 Collection:
Lace was prominent throughout the collection, as the designer sent dresses in pretty pastels down the runway. I really loved the way he also incorporated the cape-like silhouette, (which was a huge outerwear trend for Fall 2014), in formalwear. From mini dresses with a swing-like silhouette to form-fitting gowns that featured flowing capes behind them, I loved the way the presence of the cape created a dramatic entrance — and it’s only a matter of time before we see the look on the red carpet!
Along with lace and the cape-like silhouette, sheer detailing was still a prominent trend, as was the crop top — it doesn’t look like that look is going anywhere! Long skirts balanced out the midriff-bearing silhouette and provided a nice alternative to a gown or cocktail dress.
Tadashi Shoji has outfitted everyone from Michelle Obama to Nina Dobrev, and I saw dresses in the collection that would be perfect for both of them! Form-fitting frocks with sheer detailing had a sexy yet sophisticated vibe that Nina would totally rock on the red carpet, while some of the A-line sleeveless lace dresses in bold blues would be fit for the fashionable first lady — and it would allow her to show off her favorite asset, her arms! Finally, another fan of the brand who is bound to show off the looks is Octavia Spencer! From the intricate detailing to the pretty shades, she gravitates towards the fashion house’s standout designs.
