As her baby’s arrival gets closer, Chelsea Clinton is putting her career aside so that she can focus on being a mom for the first time. For Chelsea, that means giving up her NBC correspondent job — and it’s $600,000 a year salary.
Chelsea Clinton, 34, is almost ready to be a first-time mom. In preparation of her baby’s arrival, she has taken a leave from her job as a special correspondent for NBC News. However, the network hopes to work with her again in the future once she has settled into being a mother.
Chelsea Clinton Leaves NBC News To Become A Full-Time Mom
It’s almost time for former president Bill Clinton and (hopefully, future president) Hillary Clinton to become grandparents.
After their only child, Chelsea, announced that she was pregnant in April 2014, she has decided to step down as one of NBC News’ special correspondents.
“It’s been a privilege to be part of the NBC Family. I admire the work and dedication that their reporters, producers, crews, editors and studio teams deliver every day,” Chelsea wrote on her Facebook page on Aug. 29.
However, Chelsea admits that it is not just becoming a mother that she is most looking forward to doing now that she is no longer with NBC News. In fact, she will be putting all of her extra energy into working with her family for the Clinton Foundation.
As of Aug. 2014, Chelsea should be about 6 months pregnant — which means she is due in or around Nov. 2014. Her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, whom she married in 2010, works as an investment banker in New York City. Although we’re sure Chelsea will miss her $600,000 a year salary from NBC News, it’s obvious that she and her child will be well-off in the hands of Marc and the Clinton family.
