UPDATE: E!’s Ken Baker announced on Live From E! that Joan is in critical but stable condition.
An emergency call claimed Joan had stopped breathing during surgery, according to TMZ. The outlet reports that her heart stopped beating during surgery. “We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest,” the caller reportedly said.
The co-host of E!’s Fashion Police was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, according to the outlet. Joan was having throat surgery on her vocal chords in a clinic when complications arose.
Joan’s daughter Melissa Rivers, 46, is on her way to New York, TMZ claims.
The quick-witted comedienne recently dished on the best and worst fashions at the 2014 Emmys on the latest episode of Fashion Police on Aug. 26. LeAnn Rimes, 32, and Eddie Cibrian, 41, were just featured on the newest episode of her web chat series, In Bed With Joan.
The 81-year-old petite star has also been promoting her new book Diary of a Mad Diva.
