Catherine (CiCi) Bellis became the youngest woman to win a match in the US Open since 1996 on Aug. 26. The 15-year-old defeated Dominika Cibulkova, 25, to clinch her win, and become the tennis world’s new darling! Read our 5 must-know facts about CiCi below!

1. She’s the youngest player in her league:

Belinda Bencic is the next youngest player at age 17. According to Sports Illustrated, “Bellis is the youngest Grand Slam main draw participant since Alize Cornet at the 2005 French Open and the youngest at the U.S. Open since 2004.”

2. She is a born and raised California Girl.

She was originally born in San Francisco and now lives in Atherton, where she has been home schooled by her parents since the fifth grade!

3. She is not allowed to be a full-time tennis player just yet!

According to Fox Sports, “the WTA has rules saying you can’t go pro until the age of 18. According to the rule book, a player is only allowed to compete in 10 professional tournaments between her 15th and 16th birthday.”

4. She is the youngest woman to win a US Open match since 1996.

Back in 1996, famed tennis pro, Anna Kournikova, was just 15 when she won the tournament!

5. CiCi reveals which talk show she would like to go on.

The adorable 15-year-old revealed to CNN which talk show she would love to go on. She said,”I love Ellen,” CiCi told reporters. “I think I would want to go on Ellen.” — We certainly don’t blame her, and we are sure that she will get her chance!
