The challenge continues! Getting drenched for a good cause, Matt Damon accepted Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck’s nomination, and took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge using toilet water!
Matt Damon, 43, is the latest star to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in order to raise awareness for the good cause! The Water.org co-founder used toilet water during his challenge on Aug. 25, and explained why his choice of water is not as “disgusting” as people may think! Find out what A-list stars he nominated to take the challenge below!
Matt Damon ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Matt’s video starts off very normal, thanking Jimmy Kimmel, and Ben Affleck for nominating him, and apologizing for the delay, saying that he will “pay the fine” since his 24 hour make ran out a long time ago.
Things then started to take a different turn. Instead of just dumping ice water on his head, he explains that due to the drought in California and the fact that millions of people live without clean water every day, that he was in a tough spot. Naturally, the first thing that comes to mind is to collect toilet water and use that!
He said in the video “This is truly toilet water. I’ve been collecting it from various toilets around the house,” he says as he fills up the bucket. ”For those of you like my wife who think this is really disgusting, keep in mind that the water in our toilets in the West is actually cleaner than the water that most people in the developing world have access to.”
Finally his bucket is full and the Oscar-winning actor walks outside and says, “As disgusting as this may seem, hopefully it will highlight that this is a big problem, and together we can do something about it.”
That is quite the list, we can’t wait to see who accepts Matt’s challenge!
Celebrities Take ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
The Ice Bucket Challenge has swept across the nation, and some of our favorite celebrities have gotten in on raising awareness for the good cause.
Benedict Cumberbatch, 38, got in on the fun, and took his multiple nominations very seriously, even having a bucket of ice dumped on his for each nomination. In one sneak attack shot, the Sherlock actor was shown butt-naked in the shower! That’s definitely one way to raise awareness!
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Zoe Saldana, 36, and Hayden Panettierre, 24, used the challenge as a way to finally address their pregnancies. Zoe turned to the side in the video and said, “Obviously I can’t do it myself,” and then passes the challenge off to her adoring husband, Marco. Hayden confirmed her pregnancy by actually nominating her unborn child!
So far the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over $80 million! Keeping donating at ALSA.org!
