Derick Dillard & Jill Duggar Expecting — Family Releases Statements On Baby News
“We are so grateful to God for this new little blessing,” Jill and Derick said in a joint statement. “We appreciate all the well-wishes and are enjoying this new season of life as we look forward to parenthood!”
Jill’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, shared the couple’s sentiments.
“We are so excited for Derick and Jill that they are expecting their first baby! They will be such loving, awesome parents. We look forward to welcoming another grandchild into our family. We are so grateful for all the support as our family and our love multiplies! What Joy,” they added with their own statement.
Jill may be in the early stages of pregnancy, but her mom is already giving her some sound advice. (So sweet!)
“I have said to Jill, ‘When you feel sick and so tired, remember you are growing another person inside of you and this is a good reason to be sick,'” Michelle told People. “For me, I would try to sit down and rest whenever I was sick while pregnant. You have to do what you have to do. The end result is so worth it.”
Derick’s family didn’t release a statement, but they explained how they felt about the baby news in a recent interview.
Derick Dillard’s Mom ‘Looking Forward To Helping’ With The Baby
“I was unable to be involved in any of the wedding preparations for Jill and Derick,” Derick’s mom, Cathy, 57, said. “And so I am really looking forward to helping them get ready for the baby!”
Cathy underwent chemotherapy treatments, and she’s now in remission!
“Oklahoma State is my alma mater. This year, they came out with a T-shirt that says ‘Real grandmas don’t wear pink, they wear orange.’ I plan to get one of those. I am looking forward to every aspect of them having this baby,” she continued.
New episodes of 19 Kids & Counting return Tuesday, September 2 at 9/8c.
