She’s so courageous. Elizabeth, 51, checked herself into a rehabilitation center over the weekend to seek treatment for a dependency on alcohol, the ’20/20′ anchor revealed in a statement.

Elizabeth Vargas, 51, has decided to go back to rehab in an effort to regain her sobriety. The 20/20 anchor, who first entered a rehab facility in Nov. 2013, feels that another stay would be needed to get her alcohol addiction under control.

“While on vacation this weekend, I decided to return to a recovery center,” Elizabeth said in a statement to Us Weekly. “As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process.”

The talented journalist returned to television in January 2014, following her first stint in rehab, and was very open about her struggles. She told her Good Morning America colleagues, “I am an alcoholic,” and spoke about her husband Marc Cohn‘s request for her to seek treatment.

Elizabeth married Marc, who wrote the country smash “Walking in Memphis” in July 2002. They have two children together: Zachary, 11, and Samuel, 8.

“I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down, and for that I am ashamed and sorry. I am committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease and want to thank everyone who has offered their unwavering support during this trying time,” Elizabeth said in her statement over the weekend.

ABC News also released a statement. They said, “Nothing is more important than Elizabeth’s health and well-being and we stand squarely behind her. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and her family and we look forward to having her back at ABC News when she feels ready to return.”

We’re so happy to hear that ABC is fully supporting Elizabeth.

Our thoughts are with Elizabeth at this time and we hope she finds the recovery that she’s seeking.
