As if Beyonce doesn’t have enough on her plate at this moment, a woman named Tina Seals filed a lawsuit against her on August 14, demanding custody of Blue Ivy, for whom she claims to have carried as a surrogate mother. HollywoodLife.com spoke to an expert who revealed that should Tina’s crazy claim prove to be true, she could actually sue for custody!
Beyonce, 32, is currently dealing with a maelstrom of rumors surrounding her supposedly troubled marriage with Jay Z, 44, and her life is about to get a little bit crazier. On August 14, a woman named Tina Seals filed suit against Queen Bey, alleging that she was the one who carried Blue Ivy, 2, to term, and she is now demanding custody, according to a report from MediaTakeOut. Crazy, we know. However, HollywoodLife.com consulted an expert who revealed that, in cases like these, the surrogate does have a chance at parental rights!
Beyonce’s ‘Surrogate’: Woman Could Sue For Custody Of Blue Ivy
Of course, the woman in question would have to actually be the birth mother, which does not appear to be the case in this particular situation.
“It is entirely possible that a surrogate could come in and have some rights to a child. Even if rights were relinquished in a contract,” Matrimonial Family Expert Leslie Barbara reveals to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Indeed, if Beyonce and Jay Z did have a surrogate, you can be sure that their contract would be totally ironclad. However, the state of New York bans surrogacy, says Leslie. If Tina got paid for her alleged services, the surrogate contract would be invalid, meaning that Tina would have rights, as the birth mother.
New York State allows voluntary surrogacies, but, as much as we all love Bey, we can’t imagine that anyone would do the job for free.
Beyonce: If She Had A Surrogate For Blue Ivy, ‘The Surrogate Can Come In And Make Claims’
“Even though [surrogates] do relinquish rights, at the end of the day the surrogate can come in and make claims,” Leslie explains. “Basically, today’s families are created in many different ways. The baby business is a whole subculture.”
Of course, this is all conjecture based on the very remote possibility that baby Blue was not carried by Beyonce. Furthermore, Tina Seals’ record is not stellar; she once tried to sue the U.S. government for $5 million, because, “according to the official document, Barack Obama and company [were] ‘claiming [she was] an AWOL Congresswoman,'” reports The Hollywood Gossip. So. There’s that.
So, HollywoodLifers, what do you think of these claims? Is it really possible that Blue Ivy was delivered by a surrogate? This isn’t the first time that someone has made these claims, to be fair. Let us know!
