Rory McIlroy Wins PGA Championship
Rory McIlroy beat Phil Mickelson, 44, by just one single stroke at the Aug. 10 PGA Championship.
The Championship was delayed by nearly two hours for rain, but Rory came roaring back and ready to win. He started his round with a one-shot lead, but fell back two shots, according to USA Today.
He managed an eagle on the 10th hole and then hit a birdie on the 13th from nine feet that put him back in the top ranks, the outlet reports. Rory hit another birdie on the 17th hole and it allowed him a two-shot lead going into the last hole.
This is Rory’s third consecutive victory after the British Open and WGC-Bridgestone titles.
Way to go, Rory! He is absolutely on fire this golf season. Maybe he’ll take home his fourth consecutive win at the Wyndham Championship that will take place from Aug. 14 to Aug. 17! It sure sounds like a strong possibility!
