Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero has spoken out about the incident. The Sheriff said that Kevin was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the incident. He reportedly died from injuries sustained in the accident. The sheriff said the investigation is not criminal at this time — and explained that Stewart is “very upset” over the incident and is being “fully cooperative.”
Tony, as well as NASCAR, released a heartfelt statement on Aug. 10 about the tragic accident. Kevin’s family paid tribute to Kevin just one day after the accident on Facebook. However, one member of Kevin’s family, Wendi Ward, wrote a message of her own. In a Facebook message, she wrote about the “deep hurt” she was feeling and also called Tony a “d–k.”
