So sad. Just four days after she disappeared without a trace, the body of a 16 year old girl was reportedly found in the woods just off of a Florida highway. Now, her devastated family is pleading for justice for their little girl.
Alexandria Chery, 16, was last seen by her mother, Rosalie Joseph, a few hours before she went missing. Sadly, a body believed to be Alex was discovered four days later just about 40 minutes from her home. Rosalie’s boyfriend, Sanel Saint Simon, has been arrested and charged in Alexandria’s disappearance, and remains the only suspect in the case. One of Alexandria’s cousins came forward after she went missing and revealed that the teenager was afraid of her mother’s boyfriend, especially when they were alone together because he was “creepy.”
Alexandra Chery’s Body Found: Missing Teen Discovered 4 Days Of Going Missing
This is truly heartbreaking.
Just hours after she lost contact with her daughter on Monday, July 28, a concerned Rosalie Joseph contacted Orange County Police to file a report. Alexandria had last been seen by her own mother inside their home before they lost contact, reports local news affiliate WESH.
On Friday, Aug. 1, the decomposed body of a teenage girl was discovered in the woods off a highway just 40 minutes from where Alexandria and her mother lived. The next day her family received the devastating news that the body was a 98% match to Alexandria, although OCSO has yet to confirm this news. It is still unknown how or when she died.
“I don’t know what to feel right now. It’s very devastating,” Alexandria’s uncle, Ray Joseph, told the press while giving a tearful statement. Ray and Alexandria had spent the day before she went missing shopping, and he says that she was “happy and full of life.”
Alexandria’s body was found in the same area where her cell phone last “pinged,” according to reports. Police had been searching in that area just one day before she was discovered by a maintenance worker.
Sanel Saint Simon: The Only Suspect In Alex’s Disappearance
The one and only suspect in Alexandria’s disappearance is her mother’s longtime boyfriend, 43-year-old Sanel Saint Simon. Police claim he has been “uncooperative” throughout the investigation.
He is currently being held in police custody on two misdemeanor charges:providing false information to a law enforcement officer and attempted destruction of evidence. Sanel allegedly cleaned up “splattered blood” in the family home, and has also been accused of lying about his whereabouts during the time Alexandria went missing.
FYI: As of Monday, Aug. 4 Orange County Police Department upgraded Sanel’s charges from misdemeanor to felony, and they have asked prosecutors to remove his bond all together.
Sadly, Alexandria previously expressed concern for her safety around Sanel. Her uncle Ray told reporters that one of Alexandria’s cousins came forward and revealed that she had called her mother’s boyfriend “creepy” and that she was afraid to be alone with him.
Our thoughts go out to Alexandria’s family and friends at this difficult time.
