Paul George’s horrific leg break at the Team USA Basketball scrimmage on Aug. 1 was one of the worst sports injuries yet. After watching it all happen before their eyes, fans completely freaked out over the injury.
It was the break seen around the world. Multiple fans in the stands had to turn away from the gruesome injury and fans on Twitter are shocked and saddened by the sudden halt in Paul’s career.
Fans Freak Out Over Paul George’s Gruesome Leg Injury
The fourth quarter of the Team USA basketball scrimmage came to a shocking end after Paul’s injury. He leapt up to prevent a shot and his leg twisted in a way that was never meant to be. The agonizing injury put Paul in the hospital and in surgery. Paul suffered a fracture of the tibia and fibula bones in his lower right leg, Indy Star reported.
Just like when Louisville’s Kevin Ware, 21, suffered a gross right leg break in 2013, basketball fans tweeted their bold reactions and support for Paul.

“This is a very tough blow,” said Jerry Colangelo, director of USA Basketball, according to USA Today. “It’s a first for us in USA basketball to have something like this take place. It’s a tough situation for our entire organization, our coaches and players and very, very emotional. There’s no way the game could have gone on under the circumstances.”
Paul is currently resting his leg after surgery and is not letting the injury get him down. He tweeted love to his fans on Aug. 2: “Thanks everybody for the love and support.. I’ll be ok and be back better than ever!!! Love y’all!! #YoungTrece”
We wish Paul all the best as he recovers from his injury. We hope to see him back out on the court soon!
