Now that she is adjusting to normal life again, Abigail Hernandez is speaking out publicly for the first time since escaping being held captive for nine months. In her first interview, she thanked a local Kansas newspaper for keeping her hope alive.
Abigail Hernandez, 15, is slowly but surely putting her life back together. The teenager who was allegedly kidnapped nine months ago while walking home from school has finally spoken out about her ordeal, revealing that she feels better every day.
Abigail Hernandez’s First Interview Since Being Kidnapped
We love good news here at HollywoodLife.com, so this new interview with Abby Hernandez is truly something to be excited about.
Though she has only just recently escaped a horrific ordeal, the teenager seemed “relaxed” and appeared “composed” during a recent visit to The Conway Daily Sun.
Abby apparently had access to copies of the local paper occasionally while she was being held captive, and she revealed that their non-stop coverage of her abduction gave her hope that one day she would be free again.
“Thank you guys, so, so much. I really appreciate it more than I could possibly put into words,” Abby told the paper during her first interview. “
As far as how she was doing, Abby said, “I’m taking it a little bit at a time, but I’m feeling a lot better every day.”
It is so wonderful to hear that Abby is doing so well. Hopefully she’ll be able to return to school when the new year starts and go back to being a normal teenage girl who only needs to worry about boys, making plans with her friends, and homework.
Abby Stared Down Her Accused Kidnapper In Court
Just days after somehow escaping captivity, Abigail surprised everyone when she appeared in court for her accused kidnappers first court hearing.
Nathaniel Kibby, 34, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping Abby on Monday, July 28, and appeared in court the following day to face a judge. Despite her family and friends telling press Abby would not be present at the hearing, she found the strength and courage to sit just mere feet from her accused kidnapper during the hearing.
Nathaniel has been charged with felony kidnapping and is being held on $1 million bond. He reportedly kept Abby in a soundproofed storage container in his own backyard just 28 miles from her North conway, New Hampshire home.
Our thoughts go out to Abby and her friends and family at this time as they help her recover from being held captive for nine months.
