The episode was so intense — and it was only the second one of the season! The drama and craziness was at an all-time high, and we can’t wait to see what else this season has in store! What did you think of this week’s episode?
Project Runway got crazy this week…and the judges are not beating around the bush anymore, they’re telling it how it is! The episode took a turn when the invitation was sent to the designers’ apartment in a popcorn bucket!
‘Project Runway’ Recap — Season 13 Episode 2:
All of the designers were instructed to head to the movie theater. Once they were all seated, a preview came on the screen and a voice said, “In a world where fashion has forever ruled the silver screen…” They were all watching intently until Tim Gunn popped on the screen and interrupted them!
Gunn dishes out the challenge: Create a three-piece mini collection using materials from a movie theater. Tim explains to the designers that they will be incorporating their movie experience into their fashion designs. He then tells them: “This is an unconventional challenge.” Uh oh! Everyone got scared after that curveball.
The designers were instructed to use the variety of movie items, such as, camera and lighting department materials, art department props, costume & wardrobe, and even concession items! There was another twist, (obviously!). Each designer was sitting in a group of three and each of the five groups of three, compromised the five teams.
Tension started to run high as Samantha flipped out and said: “My team is probably the worst team ever. I would not want to be on that team.”
Each team had to create three cohesive, unconventional looks and they had 15 minutes to assemble as many materials as they wanted. They were only able to leave the theater with what they could physically carry and they only had one day to complete the challenge.
Sandhya, who won last week’s challenge and now has immunity, was getting on her team’s nerves. She foresaw the future, saying: “After like 2 hours into the challenge, I had a feeling this was a sinking Titanic.”
The designers got the chance to style their models using an ALDO style wall and a Philip B. salon.
The runway was anonymous so the judges didn’t know what designs belonged to which designers. The Red Team went first and their collection was made out of film strips and it was messy and dark.
The Silver Team followed, and their collection was very trendy and vibrant. They used bright green color and used graphics and lettering.
Next was the Green Team, who had an amazing collection of cut up CDs and film strips.
The Blue Team had a beautiful collection that was neat and wearable. We loved Sean Kelly‘s dress that was made up of straws and looked like a frilly dress.
The Purple Team had a fabulous collection, (it was our personal fave!), made out of metallic CDs. Mitchell‘s dress was amazing — a tight frock made out of metallic, purple CDs, featuring a keyhole back. The whole collection had a very ’80s feel.
The Red Team was the losing team, obviously. The whole team was pissed because Sandhya had immunity and she should have been the one voted off, but instead, Kelly was sent home, (so not deserved!).
The winning team was the Silver Team, and Amanda won overall.
Wow what a crazy episode — we cannot wait for next week! What did you think of this episode? VOTE.
