Judges Howard Stern, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are officially off the hook. America’s Got Talent kicked off the live shows on July 29, and left the audience with an impossible task. With a slew of jaw dropping talent, the million dollar prize could go to anyone! Read below for all the details!
‘America’s Got Talent': The Live Performances Begin
The Quarterfinals started off in a big way! With plenty of diverse and amazing talents America certainly has a tough choice ahead to decide who is the most talented!
Valo & Bobby showcased some seriously impressive balancing. From the start of their act, it was clear that these two meant business. Bobby showcased her gymnastics background by balancing in a hoop that was being held up high in the air by husband, Valo. The two then kicked if up a notch by have Bobby ride a bike in that hoop — seriously impressive! All four judges gave them rave reviews, and Howard urged America to vote for this amazing couple.
Baila Conmingo was up next. Wearing bright yellow blouses and white pants, these amazing young dancers were in perfect synchronization and looked to be having the time of their lives. Not only are they crowd favorites, but the judges couldn’t get enough of them either! Mel B even declared that the troop is her favorite!
David and Leeman started out their magic trick of the night in a super fun way, by taking a selfie with the judges. The duo attempted to predict the future by having a little fun with the foursome. They started by bringing out a book that each judge had written, then they were told to swap and rip out a random page from another judges book. In a crazy turn of events it turned out that Howie was asked to pick a random word from Mel’s book, he chose camera-ready. The men then proclaimed that yes they could predict the future, their selfie came back on the big screen and their name tags read, camera and ready. So amazing!!
Flight Crew Jump Rope, did a super risky performance that involved a trampoline, plenty of different levels, and with their nine member crew being from eight different states they did not get plenty of practice time. Clearly they didn’t need it. The whole routine was perfection, from flipping in synchronization to moving on three different levels, this was one amazing performance!
Emily West, the formerly shy child who used singing as a way to overcome her fear, had her best performance to date taking on Sia‘s hit, “Chandelier.” All of the judges were in agreement that Emily was the best of the night, Howard even admitted that she was the best singer he had seen during his three season stint as a judge.
JD Anderson took things to a new level when he smashed through a wall of ice! While his strength is always impressive, Howard paid him some extra love, calling him a “superstar.”
Dan Naturman was a hit with Howie! However, the funnyman received mixed reviews from the other judges. Heidi admitted that the beginning and the end of his act were great, but that the middle was a little sub par, while Howard and Howie sang his praises.
The final act of the night was, Miguel Dakota, who brought along his trusty guitar and sang “Come Together,” by the Beatles. Making the classic into his own, he brought out some amazing riffs and had the whole crowd singing along. The judges agreed with the audience and loved his performance.
The Judges Least Favorite Acts Of The Night
While there were no flops at all, and all of the acts were extremely impressive, the judges definitely had a few that they felt did not measure up with the rest of the competitors.
Sean, 18, and Luke, 17, the tap dancing duo from Chicago were first to take to the stage. The duo,who have been dancing together since they were 3 have had mixed reviews from the judges the entire season. Back during their audition, they impressed Heidi, but Howard was not amused by their act. They promised to step up their game, and they sure did deliver. Dancing to MKTO‘s summer hit ”Classic,” these two got the crowd screaming — and it certainly helps that they are super cute! While they clearly had the crowd’s vote, unfortunately, Howard was still not impressed saying,”Nice, is not memorable.”
16-year old singing sensation, Julia Goodwin, who took the stage singing Goo Goo Dolls classic song, “Iris,” added her own special riffs and extra powerful moments to the ballad. Julia did a really great job of making the song her own and performing with confidence. Unfortunately, Howard was skeptical and did not think that this was Julia’s best performance, luckily, the audience did not agree and cheered extra loud for the young star.
The 12 siblings that make up the Willis Clan, sang “The Power of Love” by Lewis Huey. The family sounded amazing as usual, but unfortunately Howard felt that it “fell flat.” The group received rave reviews for every other performance so far this season, so maybe they were just having an off night.
25 member group, Jasmine Flower showed off their amazing and unique art, dancing and creating gorgeous shapes with their fans. Their act certainly was a breath of fresh air, but Mel described them as being, “not everyone’s cup of tea.” Luckily, it is in America’s hands now!
America now has the extremely difficult task of figuring out who stays, and who is heading home. Make sure to tune in to the results show on July 30 at 9/8c when seven acts will be going home!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you agree with the judges evaluations? Who do you predict will win this season?
