The city that calls itself King Kong’s home is ready for its moment in the spotlight! Legendary Entertainment officially announced it’s working on a movie, aptly titled Skull Island, to be released on November 4, 2016, according to reports. We have all the details!
We’re finally going to get a full-length movie about Skull Island, the land of mystery and monsters!
As Legendary Entertainment company was closing out its panel at Comic-Con on July 26, the company’s CEO Thomas Tull teased the crowd by saying one very exciting line!
“We have been tinkering around with one thing,” Thomas said, according to MTV. At that point, the never-before-announced movie Skull Island was revealed — and footage from the flick began to play for the stunned crowd!
Mashable saw the teaser at the panel. They describe it as a thrilling sneak peek at what could be an EPIC movie!
“The teaser started with the camera panning over a roiling sea, leading to an island of dense jungle and obscured beasts. The shot tracked into a skull-shaped rock outcropping where something stirred — something big — and then rose, with the dark profile of a giant ape. He roared, he beat his chest, and the words ‘Legendary’s Skull Island’ appeared,” they report.
“Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions. The film will be released on November 4, 2016,” Mashable quotes a release from Legendary Entertainment about the flick. The movie’s director and actors have not yet been released.
The last time we saw King Kong was in the 2005 movie King Kong, which was directed by Peter Jackson.
2016 can’t come soon enough — we’re so excited about this movie already! The last two days of Comic-Con have been filled with great movie news.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice fans got a major surprise when the first image of Gal Gadot, 29, as legendary Wonder Woman was released! On top of that, the movie’s stars Ben Affleck, 41, and Henry Cavill, 31, completely surprised the Comic-Con audience and premiered the VERY first look at the movie of July 26.
