Philip Seymour Hoffman takes on the role of German intelligence operative, Günther Bachmann in his final role in the must see spy flick, ‘A Most Wanted Man.’
Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s performance is remarkable in his final role in the spy thriller, A Most Wanted Man. The film which also stars Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright is based on the 2008 John le Carre novel, and will engage you and keep you on the edge of your seat front start to finish!
‘A Most Wanted Man’ — 5 Reasons You Must See The Spy Thriller
The Cinema Society & Montblanc hosted the premiere of Lionsgate & Roadside Attractions’ A Most Wanted Man on July 23, at the MoMa in NYC. The films biggest stars came out to support the film, and remember their late co-star.
Without giving too much away, Fandango gives a summary of what A Most Wanted Man is about. “When a half-Chechen, half-Russian, brutally tortured immigrant turns up in Hamburg’s Islamic community, laying claim to his father’s ill-gotten fortune, both German and US security agencies take a close interest.”
1. Philip Seymour Hoffman Is Perfect As Günther
Philip, who has never given a bad performance, did another stellar job in his role as the curious spy who is trying to figure out tortured immigrant, Issa Karpov’s motives for leaving his country.
Philips character will go to any length to catch his suspect doing something wrong, even enlisting the help of human-rights lawyer, Annabel Richter (Rachel McAdams) and slightly corrupt German banker, Tommy Brue (Willem Dafoe).
2. Robin Wright’s Dual Role As Good And Evil
Very much like her character, Claire, in House of Cards, Robin plays the character that you are supposed to hate, but just can’t seem to. Robin plays CIA agent Martha Sullivan who is convinced that Issa is up to no good. While you want to dislike Martha, it is just not possible because you constantly have the feeling that she knows more than you do– plus we loved Robin’s brunette look!
3. Rachel McAdams As The Stunning And Kind Annabel Richter
At first, I was not sure how I felt about Annabel. Then once she saw Issa’s scars, she turned into a sweet and compassionate character who went to great lengths to make sure that justice was served. Rachel looked stunning the entire time and really was able to hold her own with a cast of super seasoned actors.
4. A Much Needed Summer Spy Flick
One of the best things about this film is that you had to be paying attention. Philip’s character built his case brick by brick and you needed to make sure that you didn’t miss a second of his complex thinking in order to fully understand this movie and its many metaphors. It was really refreshing to see a movie that had so many elements all in one. Not only were the actors amazing, but the screenplay and setting were perfect!
5. A Surprising End
No matter how close you are paying attention and working alongside of Philip’s character to figure out if Issa is innocent, you will never see this ending coming. It is totally a shock and does not disappoint!
Trust me, you will not regret seeing this amazing film!
