Hear me out. Jonathan Price is the only good casting choice this year; this is disappointing that they are veering off so much from the books by trying to impose artificial diversity on the story. Tyene is blonde, Nymeria is half-Volantene (like Shae in the TV Series), Areo Hotah is from Norvos and the free cities are implied to be home to what we’d consider Caucasians. Of course, this is a fantasy novel, you don’t have to impose diversity on it because there isn’t “white” and “Latino” and “Asian” in this world; there’s “Westerosi” and “Bravosi” and “Myrish,” etc. They did this with Salladhor Saan from Myr who in the books has Valyrian feaures (like Daenerys and Viserys) and Xaro Xhoan Daxos. And it’s not like there aren’t plenty of diverse characters; the show just keeps cutting them out or replacing them with made-up white characters that aren’t in the books like Ros replacing Chataya. Also, Yezzan zo Qaggaz is tremendously fat. It just feels artificial and forced.
