Sherri Shepherd can finally breathe a sigh a relief now that one of her two pending custody battles have been resolved. The Los Angeles Superior Court ruled that Sherri will maintain physical custody of her 9-year-old son, Jeffrey.
Sherri Shepherd, 47, has won the custody battle against her first husband, Jeffrey Tarpley. A judge has finally ruled that Sherri’s son, Jeffrey, 9, will remain in her care full-time, despite Jeffrey’s bid for full custody. However, Sherri and her estranged second husband, Lamar Sally, have another custody battle pending for their unborn child via surrogate.
Sherri Shepherd Wins Custody Battle To Keep 9-Year-Old Son
It’s nice to see some good news for Sherri, isn’t it?
On July 21, the Los Angeles Superior Court denied Sherri’s ex-husband, Jeffrey Sr.’s, petition for temporary physical custody of their son Jeffrey.
The court ruled that “there has not been a material change in circumstances” and Jeffrey will remain in Sherri’s care, according to court documents obtained by People.
Jeffrey Sr. first filed the petition on April 2, blaming Sherri’s hectic work schedule as the cause behind her alleged “neglect” of their son.
He added that Sherri was responsible for “poor parenting choices and refusal to provide for our child’s immediate needs,” according to the court docs.
However, the former View host stands by her parenting decisions.
“I stand behind my character and integrity. You can’t hold me down – I’m a wonderful mama,” Sherri told the outlet.
Good for you, Sherri!
Sherri’s 2nd Custody Battle For Unborn Child Via Surrogate
Although Sherri will retain custody of Jeffrey, she still has another custody battle brewing in the background.
In May 2014, Sherri and her estranged husband, Lamar, split. The two are now battling it out for custody of their unborn child via surrogate.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Lamar is suing Sherri for custody of the surrogate child, meaning Sherri will have to pay child support.
However, it doesn’t seem like Sherri is willing to fight for her unborn child, like the one she made up for Jeffrey. Sherri is willing to give up all parental rights and obligations because she feels her ex-husband “trapped” her into having a surrogate child together for financial purposes, according to TMZ.
Woah! That’s some major drama, and we hope that Sherri and Lamar can resolve it fairly painless.
