Here we go again! Rachel Canning, the teen that made international headlines when she sued her parents is back in the news after she filed a restraining order against her boyfriend — the very person her parents begged her to stay away from.
Rachel Canning, 18, is in trouble once again. This time, her parents, Elizabeth and Sean Canning, are sticking by her side. The recent high school graduate filed a restraining order against her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Lucas Kitzmiller, claiming that he tried to strangle her during an argument. Yikes!
Rachel Canning: Files Restraining Order Against Boyfriend
In the early morning hours of July 20, Rachel found herself in a very uncomfortable situation.
During an argument with her boyfriend, Lucas, he allegedly began choking her. She managed to free herself, and quickly fled to her car so that she could drive straight to the Denville Police Headquarters.
Rachel filed a domestic violence complaint as well as a temporary restraining order against Lucas for the alleged attack.
The former couple are due in court on July 23 for a hearing to decide whether or not the restraining order will be made permanent.
The irony in this situation? This is the very same boyfriend that Rachel’s parents demanded she stop seeing before she moved in with him and his family and tried suing her own mom and dad for tuition and living costs.
In April 2014, the suit was dropped and Rachel moved back home after reconciling with her parents. Sadly, it seems she still remained in contact with her troublesome boyfriend — and now she’ll be back in a courtroom because of him once again.
Elizabeth Canning: Says Lucas Is A Bad Influence On Emily
It is no secret that Rachel’s parents were not fans of Lucas.
At a court appearance in February, Elizabeth had nothing nice to say about her daughter’s boyfriend — and we can imagine she dislikes him even more now.
“Since she commenced dating Lucas Kitzmiller, Rachel has frequently become obsessed with drinking every weekend as a result of dating him. [Rachel] was routinely brought home drunk by the Kitzmillers, well past her curfew,” said Elizabeth.
Yikes, talk about a messy situation. We’re glad that Rachel wasn’t seriously hurt in the alleged attack. We’re also glad that her parents are sticking by her side during this new legal drama.
