‘A’ was pretty silent on the July 22 episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ but that doesn’t mean the drama wasn’t as intense as ever. Strap in, Liars fans.
The Liars dealt with their own fair share of problems without “A” on the July 22 episode of Pretty Little Liars. Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) and Ali (Sasha Pieterse) went head-to-head, Hanna (Ashley Benson) made a huge mistake, Aria (Lucy Hale) made headway at Radley and a certain couple reunited!
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: All About Ali
In the latest attempt to make Alison feel like she had support, Emily’s mom (Nia Peeples) wanted Ali and the girls to come over for dinner. However, the Liars thought Emily’s mom might have an ulterior motive. Plus, no one really wanted to go except Ali and Emily.
Hanna was still not a fan of everything being all about Ali.
After their talk, Ali started freaking out about her bruises from her scary attack. Emily assured her everything would be okay. Sydney made her presence known in the bathroom, only to talk to Emily about the dead rat incident with Paige.
Paige (Lindsey Shaw) was totally freaked about situation. Emily’s thoughts immediately turned to Mona (Janel Parrish) as the culprit. Mona, still as b**chy as ever, dismissed Emily’s accusation. She said the incident had boy written all over it. Emily had a good idea for a guy — Noel Kahan!
Meanwhile, Caleb was ready to get the heck out of Rosewood and preparing (not) for his exit exams. He asked Hanna what was going on with her. Hanna was pissed about the dinner and did not want to go. Caleb called her out on her never ending charade with Ali. Hanna understood but didn’t want to have a custody battle over her friends with Ali.
“If you lose them, you always have me,” Caleb told Hanna. (Praise!)
Caleb wasn’t going to let his world revolve around Ali. He taunted her about needing so much support. Pissed, Ali said he didn’t know her at all. “I just know you from what you leave behind,” Caleb replied.
Over at Radley, Aria was making moves to find out information. Her first move was including the terrifying drawing Eddie Lamb left at Ezra’s in the art pile. One of the patients, Rhonda, yelled that Aria stole her drawing. Turns out, Bethany was her former roommate.
In other news, Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) returned to Rosewood to help sort things out with Spencer and her parents. And guess what she found in the garage? ANOTHER DEAD RAT!
Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Shade On Shade On Shade
After Caleb went head-to-head with Ali, Hanna called him up and she was furious. She confronted him about his talk with Ali, but he was not going to apologize. He also admitted that he didn’t take his exit exam, further infuriating Hanna about his decision-making. Caleb called her out and said she was just mad that he could make his own decisions and she couldn’t. (Ouch.)
Although it wasn’t her idea, Spencer headed over to Ezra’s to help move his research. Ezra was concerned about his lead with Eddie, but Spencer said he shouldn’t get his hopes up. She also took the time to borrow a camera from Ezra to keep an eye on her garage. She thanked Ezra for being up on the roof that night. This segued into a talk about Ezra’s former book plans concerning his family. This touched Spencer considering her current problems with her fam.
As Emily walked home with groceries, she spotted Mona at the Cavanaugh house. Emily threatened her about Paige and the dead rat. However, Mona assured Emily that she was not so amateur and could totally do better than that. (Somebody kill her please.)
At Radley, Rhonda confronted Aria about the drawing. She confessed that Bethany gave it to her. This piqued Aria’s interest and she had to find the rest of the drawings.
All the Liars were dropping out of the dinner left and right. Aria was still held up at Radley and Hanna dropped out because of “cramps.” Emily came to Hanna’s house and asked her why she wasn’t coming. Hanna had hit her Ali limit for the day. After some convincing, Hanna agreed to go.
Hanna showed up and Ali immediately brought up Caleb. Hanna promised he wasn’t going to make trouble and she trusted him. “Now would be a really bad time to make a mistake,” Ali said. She asked Hanna to cool it a bit with Caleb. (SHADE ALERT!)
Why would anyone EVER want to stay away from Caleb? Hanna’s talk with Ali made her go straight for the vodka.
As Aria left Radley, Eddie stopped her. He wanted to know what she was looking for because she was obviously up to something. Aria left in a hurry and then Eddie called Ezra!
Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Reunited & It Feels So Good
Someone should give Ali an award for best pity party performance because she piled it on at Emily’s dinner. She just went on and on and on and on. Hanna, like me, was so over it. Ali confessed she was ashamed over what had happened and that’s why she asked the girls to keep her a secret in New York. Emily’s mom said she had some special friends.
“There’s no one in the entire world like you,” Hanna said sarcastically. She took a sip of her drank and started choking. As Ali got up, she gave the ultimate side-eye to Hanna. Emily called Hanna out for drinking in front of her mom and kicked her out. Later, Emily’s mom revealed the real reason for the dinner. She wanted to see Emily and Ali together. She admitted that Emily didn’t have to keep saving Ali and said that her story had tons of holes in it.
Aria hit up Spencer to talk about her Radley findings. Spencer implied that she shouldn’t go back to Radley. It just wasn’t safe. The crazy death painting of Mrs. D was the last thing Bethany drew. As they looked through the rest of Bethany’s sketch book that Aria stole from Rhonda, the drawings got progressively darker. One was a picture of a woman falling from a building, which Spencer believed to be Toby’s mom. Maybe Bethany was the fragile patient who watched Toby’s mom die!
Hanna stopped by the coffee shop after being kicked out of Emily’s house and Sydney stopped her. Sydney offered to be a vent for Hanna and since Hanna was drunk, she agreed. (Something’s not right with this.)
Drunk Hanna spilled some very important details, including one about New York, to Sydney. Sydney was the perfect person to talk junk to, which raised some eyebrows. Sydney offered Hanna a ride home, but thankfully Caleb showed up.
Caleb started talking about Ali, but Hanna just wanted to talk about them. (Rejoice!) Caleb brought up Travis, to which Hanna replied, “There’s no me and Travis — not when you’re back here.” (OMG. OMG. OMG.)
Hanna asked Caleb what he wanted and Caleb said he didn’t know. Yeah, right.
He confessed that his time away changed him. When he looked at the world, he didn’t see the same stuff anymore. “Do you see me?” Hanna asked. “Yes,” Caleb replied.
And then, Haleb fans everywhere freaked out. (Myself included)
Hanna and Caleb kissed! It’s about time!
Spencer was spending her free time watching the footage from the garage and someone interesting appeared. ALI!
Emily called Paige about the rat incident and apologized. It was sweet. All the Liars then got a text from Spencer saying “S.O.S.” Aria was ready to walk out the door to the girls when Ezra showed up. Eddie called to set up a meeting and never showed up. (Gulp.)
Aria, Spencer and Emily all met up for a pow wow and Emily was still mad at Hanna for drinking at dinner. Spencer said they had to figure out what was up with Ali and they got a new text from “A.” Double “A” whammy!
However, Hanna didn’t get the scary new text. That’s because it was about Hanna spilling the beans about New York!
Meanwhile, either “A” or one of “A’s” minions, was addressing what’s sure-to-be a new threat. It was an invitation to Ella and Zack’s engagement party and it was sent to Emily’s mom! Oh no!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of tonight’s Pretty Little Liars? Are you happy that Hanna and Caleb reunited? What is Sydney up to? Is Aria headed straight into danger at Radley? Let us know!
