Tim made headlines when he slapped a woman during his concert in Atlanta, July 13, and he’s finally telling the world why it happened!
Tim McGraw has always been America’s country cutie, so it came as a shock when he was seen slapping a woman. It all started when video from the incident leaked and Tim, 47, tells ET Canada that it was taken out of “context.”
Tim McGraw Reveals Why He Slapped A Woman
While Tim was singing his hit song “Truck Yeah,” a fan in the audience began pulling on his jeans. That’s when he reached out into the audience and slapped her. But Tim says he immediately just reacted out of instinct.
“Sometimes things can lose context and perspective,” he told ET Canada. “I reacted in an instinctive, defensive way from my perspective of what was going on. I think it was an unfortunate situation, I think all the way around.”
Tim also says that he doesn’t feel good about what happened and that it happened in a “split second.”
“But it happened, it happened in a split second, it was pure instinctive reaction, I think you just got to move on,” he says. “It is one of those things that happen, nobody feels good about it, but there’s nothing that could be done about it. You are in that position, you are out there, you are vulnerable, things happen and sometimes you react. There’s nothing to be said about it.”
Tim & His Wife Squash Divorce Rumors
Tim and his wife, Faith Hill, performed at the Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on April 6, despite divorce rumors. The couple have fought off rumors like this for years and Tim spoke out about dealing with it.
“We’ve been married 17 years, and since the first week we were married those things were out,” Tim said. “We don’t even think about it. The only time we ever think about it is [when we] worry about the kids. But they’ve been around it, too, so they laugh it off.”
