The ESPYs were filled with emotional speeches, but none more than that of Stuart Scott’s. The ESPN anchor and cancer survivor dedicated his award to his daughters, one of whom joined him on stage for a touching embrace. So sweet.
Stuart Scott, 48, is a survivor. During his emotional acceptance speech, the sports anchor revealed that he would not be where he is today if it were not for his two incredible children, Taelor and Sydni. Thankfully, Sydni, 14, was on hand for the special moment, and at the end of her father’s speech she stepped up onto the stage to give him a hug.
Stuart Scott’s Emotional Embrace With Daughter, 14, At The ESPY Awards
What an incredible ESPY Awards moment.
After being presented with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award by actor Kiefer Sutherland, longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott took the stage to give one of the most inspirational speeches of the night.
Stuart, who has been battling cancer since 2007, took a moment to acknowledge his two daughters, Taelor and Sydni, who he says give him the strength to keep fighting everyday.
“The best thing I’ve ever done, the best thing I will ever do is be a dad to Taelor and Sydni. I can’t ever give up because I can’t leave my daughters. I love you girls more than I will ever be able to express. You are my heartbeat. I am standing on this stage tonight because of you,” Stuart proudly told the audience.
“Sydni, get up here and give me a hug — because I need one,” Stuart said to his daughter from the stage.
Moments later, his youngest daughter stepped on stage and hugged her father tightly as he kissed the top of her head. It’s safe to say there was not a dry eye in the house during this special moment.
