Boy Found In Basement

The young Detroit boy who went missing for 11 days before being discovered in his own basement has made shocking claims to police about the alleged abuse he has endured. However, the man accused of said abuse, his father, is still fighting to keep full custody of the boy.

Charlie Bothuell V, 12, has been living with his mom since being discovered in the basement of his father’s apartment complex on June 25. Now, despite the fact that his son has accused him of horrific acts of child abuse, Charlie Bothuell IV and his wife, Monique Dillard-Bothuell, are still fighting to regain custody of the boy.

Charlie Bothuell V: Father Fighting For Custody After Abuse Claims Made

Once little Charlie was recovered from his father’s basement, he told the police some very troubling things about the way he is treated by his father and stepmother.

The most horrifying thing Charlie told Detroit Police was that a circular scar on his chest allegedly came from having a PVC pipe driven into him by his own father, reports People.

Following Charlie’s claims, the FBI searched his father’s home and discovered the pipe — allegedly with dried blood still on it. Awful.

However, despite Charlie’s claims, his father and stepmother are disputing there was ever any abuse and are concerned about losing custody of the boy. Since being discovered, Charlie has been living with his biological mother and is reportedly doing very well, according to a statement released by his state-appointed lawyer.

On Thursday, July 17, Charles and his wife, Monique, attended a court hearing in regards to their custody of two other children aged 4 and 11. During the hearing, they inquired about their rights to Charlie, and Fox News is reporting that the couple hope for a jury trial in regards to their custody rights.

It is very important that we point out that Charlie’s father and stepmother have NOT been charged by the state of Michigan in regards to both the boy’s abuse claims and his mysterious disappearance.

Charlie Told FBI That His Stepmother Threatened His Life

During a forensic interview with the FBI, Charlie also claimed that his stepmother threatened to make him “disappear.”

“Unlike you, I know where the sharp knives are,” Monique allegedly told Charlie, as he recounted during his interview. “I can make you disappear.”

Charlie also claimed that it was his stepmother who told him to stay in the basement, and then she allegedly called his father and claimed that the boy was missing.

This case continues to get more and more mysterious. Hopefully, more concrete evidence will be revealed as this custody battle unfolds.
