They’re back! On an all-new episode of ‘Teen Mom 2,’ Jenelle and Nathan are excited to learn the sex of their baby, while Leah finds out that Ali is telling people she is ‘weak’ because she has muscular dystrophy.
The July 16 episode of Teen Mom 2 had its fair share of bittersweet moments. Jenelle Evans, 22, and boyfriend Nathan Griffith, 25, learn the sex of their baby and worry about going to jail for charges they received last season. Chelsea Houska, 23, is at risk of losing her esthetics license before she even receives it, while Leah Messer starts a part-time job to help with her daughter Ali’s rising medical bills. Meanwhile, Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin struggle with raising two small children while still newlyweds.
‘Teen Mom 2′: Chelsea’s Ex Gets In A Car Crash, Kailyn & Javi Argue
Starting the season off with some drama, Chelsea finds out that Adam was in a very serious car accident. However, she does not know too many details about the accident, and she’s immediately concerned about Aubree‘s safety.
Chelsea reveals to her dad, Randy, that Aubree saw Adam a week after the accident and told Chelsea that he had a bump on his head from hitting it on the steering wheel. Yikes.
Believe it or not, Adam’s accident turned out to be the least of Chelsea’s problems. Chelsea received a letter in the mail that the state was withholding her esthetics license because a complaint was filed that she did makeup at a wedding — with her friend, Landon — while she was unlicensed. The complaint states that Chelsea was paid for helping with the wedding, which is illegal without a license. Uh oh.
Elsewhere, Kailyn’s toddler son, Isaac did not want to spend the weekend at Jo’s house. In fact, he cried and begged his mom not to make him go, which was incredibly sad to watch.
After Jo and Isaac finally left together, Kailyn told Javi that he should encourage him to go visit his dad more often. Kailyn believes that Javi is the male figure in Isaac’s life when Jo is not around, and that Isaac really looks up to him more so than even his own mom.
Later, Javi and Kailyn get into a huge fight because he tells her that he does not like her attitude. Sometimes, Kailyn can be mean — even if it’s unintentional.
Earlier in the episode, Kailyn told her friend Peach that she felt stressed and depressed from being in the house all day with her two small kids. Javi and Kailyn’s discussion ended with Kailyn in tears, which is not a good sign for their relationship.
In happier news, when we are reunited with Leah and Jeremy, their adorable baby girl, Adalynn, says her first words on camera: mama and dada!
Jenelle & Nathan Learn Sex Of Baby, Leah’s Daughter Makes A Shocking Statement
When Jenelle and Nathan were on their way to the doctor’s appointment to learn the sex of their baby, Jenelle confessed that although they have had some rough patches in the past, things between them are really good now. This is so great to hear, because watching them bicker all the time was super stressful.
One of the cutest moments of the episode is when Jenelle and Nathan learn that they are having a baby boy. Nathan is so excited, he cheers loudly and then leans down to kiss Jenelle repeatedly. SO sweet!
After their appointment, the happy couple stop by Barbara‘s house to share the good news with her and Jenelle’s first son, Jace. You know things are going good with the Evans-Griffith family when even Barbara is excited about the baby’s sex!
However, Barbara was confused when she learned that the baby would be named Kaiser — she thought it sounded like a brand of beer. Nope. not so much, Babs! Nathan explained to her the name was actually German for “emperor.”
Before the end of the episode, Jenelle and Nathan meet with their lawyer about their recent arrests — both of which aired on the previous season of TM2. The good news was Jenelle’s charges were dropped, but Nathan is looking at at least 30 days in jail. Not good.
Meanwhile, Leah’s husband, Jeremy took a new job — two hours away — so that he could be closer to home. Leah has also picked up a part-time job, which she revealed is so that she can help pay for Ali‘s medical bills. Poor little Ali was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy last season, so it’s not surprising to hear that the bills are piling up for this young family.
When Leah picked Ali and her twin sister, Aleeah, up at their dad Corey‘s house, he told Leah that Ali said she is not strong because she has muscular dystrophy. It breaks both of their hearts to hear that their little girl knows about her disability.
Despite being distraught, Leah told Corey that instead of being upset about it they should empower their daughter. How does Leah always remain so strong for everyone? She’s so inspiring.
Later, Leah and the girls had lunch with her mother, Dawn, and she told her about what Ali said to Corey. During the lunch, Leah asked Ali who told her she had muscular dystrophy and her answer was Dr. Tsao. If you remember, last season Dr. T explained Ali’s condition to Leah and Corey while their daughter was still in the room.
It seems Ali is much smarter than any other little girl her age, that’s for sure. She doesn’t miss a beat!
