Meek Mill: Rapper Sentenced To 3-6 Months In Jail For Parole Violation
Rapper Meek Mill is heading back to jail. The 27-year-old was sentenced to 3-6 months in jail for violating his parole from a previous conviction, according to TMZ.
Meek was on probation from a 2008 drug and gun conviction. He was sentenced 11 to 23 months in prison in 2008, but only served eight months. He began five years probation in 2009.
Prosecutors became concerned about recent incidents with Meek, especially Meek posting a picture of himself holding a gun recently, Philadelphia’s FOX 29 reports. Meek was scheduling concerts without getting approval and he changed his cell phone number, which alarmed prosecutors, TMZ reports. The rapper is reportedly in custody.
People in Meek’s camp believe the District Attorney has a vendetta against Meek and wanted to hurt him since he has a new album coming out in September, sources told TMZ.
The “Ima Boss” rapper pleaded with the Philadelphia judge not to put him in jail, the outlet says. “The will be extremely damaging to my life,” the rapper reportedly said in court.
