Glee fans were totally shocked when news broke that Becca Tobin‘s boyfriend, Matt Bendik, passed away at the too-young age of 35 on July 10. There were no drugs in the Phladelphia hotel room in which he was found, and so a surprise overdose is unlikely. However, Matt’s family believe that stress may have led to his death, and his “workaholic” nature, according to a new report.
“Matt’s family is devastated,” a source close to Matt’s family revealed to MailOnline. “His parents worry he may have died from a heart attack because he worked so hard, almost a workaholic. He had plans for a major career, he wanted to do well.”
So sad. “He and Becca were madly in love,” their source continued, “and talked marriage and having a family. She is inconsolable.”
The night before his death, Matt was out with friends, TMZ reported, and he seemed in perfectly good health. His official cause of death has yet to be revealed, but the Philadelphia Police Department ruled it a “sudden death.” Furthermore, Becca was not with him at the time of his death, according to TMZ.
“Matt was a kind and gentle person,” a source previously reported to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Not at all like nightlife personalities you see. Very real and down to earth. He was very much in love with Becca. He thought she was the one. We expected him to propose this year.” So sad.
Our thoughts go out to Becca and to Matt’s family and friends during this difficult time.
