Rosie’s triumphant return! A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that after the departures of Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd, the outspoken actress is making her way back to a hosting chair on The View. Keep reading to find out more and tell us if you are excited about the news!
Seven years after quitting The View, Rosie O’Donnell is ready to put water under the bridge and go back to dishing on hot topics! HollywoodLife.com has the latest scoop about Rosie’s new move to return to morning television’s most controversial show.
Rosie O’Donnell’s Return To The View
“The worst kept secret ever is Rosie is returning to the show — it’s definitely happening!” our source tells HollywoodLife.com. “ABC wants to make the big announcement of her return during the TCAs along with the other new members of the cast.”
Fans of Rosie are holding their breath for the Television Critics Association’s upfront presentations on July 15-16 when the announcement will be made. The news of her hiring comes just weeks after two of the four cohosts, Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd, were abruptly booted from the show.
Rosie’s return to the show was made official as negotiations ramped up at the end of the business day on July 7, TMZ reported. She will join Whoopi Goldberg as producers search for two more new co-hosts. And ABC let the cat of the bag when they sent out a tweet July 10 confirming that Rosie is hired. Yay!
Rosie O’Donnell’s View Redux
“I don’t think we have a new direction, yet. I think we have time,” executive producer Barbara Walters demurred when Extra asked about shakeups on The View. Rosie famously exited the show in April 2007, just eight months after signing on, amid dust-ups with then-co-hosts Star Jones, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie’s perennial nemesis Donald Trump.
Since she quit the show, the mom of five has remained active in film and TV (including a short-lived eponymous show on Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN) and outspoken about issues she is passionate about on her blog. Rosie’s road back to the A.M. coffee klatch began in February of this year when she appeared as a guest on The View telling Barbara, “Don’t worry, I’ll be good.”
What do you think HollywoodLifers, are you excited for Rosie to be back on The View?
