This is crazy. A mother intentionally pushed her 7- month-old baby girl into the middle of a NYC train station, and then just left on the train without a word.
Frankea Dabbs, 20, pushed her baby’s stroller out of the train when the doors opened at the Columbus Circle stop on Monday, July 7. Instead of getting out and chasing after her baby girl, the mother watched as the doors closed and pulled away, leaving the baby girl alone on the platform. Frankea has since been located by the NYPD and arrested for abandoning her daughter.
Mother Arrested After Abandoning Baby Girl At Subway Station
A 20-year-old mother shocked everyone walking through the Columbus Circle subway station on the morning of July 7 when she pushed her daughter’s stroller out of a northbound 1 train.
The incident happened when the train stopped at around 11:50 am, and the mother, Frankea Dabbs, remained on the train as it pulled away without her daughter, Milani Edmonds, reports the Daily Mail.
How sad is it that a mother would leave her daughter in such a dangerous place?
One good samaritan bystander witnessed Milani’s stroller roll out onto the platform and waited 20 minutes for someone to return and claim her before finally deciding to contact the police.
The little girl was later evaluated at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital before being handed over to Child Services. Frankea was located by the NYPD thanks to surveillance videos inside the subway stations, and was later arrested and charged with abandoning the baby girl.
Frankea allegedly told police that she abandoned her baby because she felt “overwhelmed” with the responsibility of caring for her.
Our thoughts go out to the adorable baby girl. Hopefully she is able to reconnect with another family member who will take wonderful care of her.
