The July 6 episode of ‘True Blood’ featured the death of another major character. Plus, the return of a fan favorite!
True Blood is staying true to its shocker roots and the July 6 episode was the perfect example of that. Someone we all love and hate returned, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and James (Nathan Parsons) got cozy and a beloved character was offed in a shocking shoot out. Read on for a true recap!
‘True Blood’ Recap: She’s Baaaacckkk
Yes, the rumors are true. Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) is back and now she’s found her spiritual center — in more ways than one. (Seeing Anna Camp back on True Blood just fills me with so much joy.)
Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) finally found Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and asked how long he’d been sick. As always, she was very concerned. “I searched the whole f***king planet for you,” she told him. Also, she was not a fan that Eric had taken up camp in St. Petersburg. “You know how I hate the Russian people,” Pam seethed. Eric had given up hope and Pam stressed that this couldn’t all be about his long lost love Sylvie (Gabriella Wright).
“It’s over,” Eric said. He was ready to die after Godric, Nora and Sylvie had passed on. (No!) Then, we got a flashback to 1986 to Eric’s time with Sylvie. “You’re all that I need,” Eric professed. They did the deed in a vineyard and that’s something you’ve never seen on TV before.
In yet another great return, Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) made her first appearance in Eric’s life. She wanted him to stop screwing, biting and sucking everything that moved. Nan brought up the first talks of Tru Blood and wanted Eric to clean up his act or bust. Pam was antsy to get the heck out of dodge, but Eric was in loooooove.
‘True Blood’ Recap: A Man Ain’t Nothin Without A Family…Or A Good Steak Dinner
Man, all Alcide (Joe Manganiello) wanted was a nice steak dinner, but Sookie (Anna Paquin) was nowhere to be found. Alcide managed to track down her scent to Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) house, but it stopped there.
Yeah, Sookie was off with Bill concocting this master plan. During their car ride, Sookie and Bill got into deep conversation. “How come you can’t feel me anymore?” Sookie asked. Bill explained that he was drained at the camp and the vampire he is today is not the one he was before. Sookie made a valid point that this meant he got an unfair clean slate after he did all those horrible things to her and everyone else. Bill, normally so noble, said he would have to live with what he did forever.
However, Bill noted that if their plan was going to work, then Sookie was going to have to drink Bill’s blood. As she was sucking on Bill’s wrist, Sookie reminded him, “I have a boyfriend.” (Nicely done, Sook.)
Meanwhile, Wade and Adilyn were still locked in jail. She adorably revealed that they made out, but someone had glamoured him to forget it all. “This is the best news I’ve heard in awhile,” Wade cutely said. Before things could get serious, Jessica and Andy (Chris Bauer) came to rescue them.
Mayor Sam (Sam Trammell) managed to run into some trouble with the humans who were fighting to take the town back from the supernatural. They told him to get lost or face death. Sam wasn’t going to leave and he shapeshifted into an owl and flew away.
Jason (Ryan Kwanten), as the only normal human left, was reflecting on starting a family with Violet (Karolina Wydra). He asked his girlfriend if she was interested in starting a family and she was not. “A man ain’t nothin without a family,” Jason said. Violet was baffled at this family talk and dissed the fact that Jason had all these thoughts and feelings and said he should be stronger.
“I think and I feel,” Jason said. “And I’m still a badass motherf**ker of a warrior.” (You tell her, Jason!)
‘True Blood’ Recap: Spilling Your Guts
Just as Lafayette was getting his groove on, James came looking for weed, but stayed for the conversation. He started spilling his feelings about Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and how they lived together, slept beside each other, occassionally did the deed, but Jess never noticed him. (But how? He’s so dreamy.)
Lafayette and James started mad flirting. Like lots of eyebrow lifting flirting and such. Lafayette was ready to down some pills so you know things were about to get real. James and Lafayette fell asleep together and when James awoke, Lafayette wouldn’t budge. James was afraid that Lafayette had ODed and Lafayette teased him for worrying. Before James left, he wanted to fix Lafayette’s neck and it was so sensual. So. Sensual.
Sookie and Bill had set up camp and waited for the Hep-V vampires. “I’m fulfilling my purpose,” she said. “Let’s just hope the bad guys take the bait.” Bill asked if he should bring Alcide along when he came to rescue Sookie and she said hell yeah.
As many supernatural TV heroines always say — looking at you, Elena Gilbert — Sookie revealed to Bill that “the last thing I need is anyone else dying because of me.” But someone always does.
Then, Bill asked if Sookie loved Alcide. Sookie admitted that Alcide wanted kids and she wasn’t so sure. “I do love him,” Sookie replied. “I really do.” But there was something missing.
“I’m afraid I don’t love him as much as he loves me. I know I should because Alcide is decent, handsome and grounded. He’s good, you know? But when we tell each other “I love you,” I can hear it in his voice and I can hear it in thoughts, he means it more than I do.” What a beautiful little monologue. There was also talk of this one time that Sookie went to Six Flags, but that’s not important.
After they rescued Adilyn and Wade, Jason, Violet, Jess and Andy encountered the same humans who attacked Sam, which included Hoyt’s mama. She still blamed Jessica for sending Hoyt away. “It was a break up,” Jessica tried to stress. “People break up.” Hoyt’s mama shot Jessica and then Violet pulled her heart out, which caused a huge frenzy.
However, Jessica didn’t heal as quickly as she should have from the would. (No, True Blood. Do NOT go there.)
‘True Blood’ Recap: Goodbye, Sweet [SPOILER]
Back to the flashback when Eric had amazing hair, the Yakonomo Corporation came looking for Eric after he didn’t clean up his act. They forced Eric to choose — Pam or Sylvie. He was willing to sacrifice himself, but the Authority wanted him alive. As they were about to kill them both, Eric blurted out, “Pam lives.” Bye bye, Sylvie.
In the present day, Pam was worried that Eric regretted the choice he made that night. “I made the only choice I could,” he said. (Sigh.) Pam wanted him to fight, but he wasn’t interested. The only thing that stirred his will to live was the fact that Sarah Newlin was alive. Eric was not happy about that.
Speaking of Sarah, the Yakonomo Corporation in the present day came looking for her. They killed her hot yoga instructor that she’d been screwing. Girl, you better run.
After a long wait, Sookie’s plan started to work and the Hep-V vamps came running.
A bloody shoot-out ensued and then that thing happened.
As Alcide tried to save his lady love, he was shot dead. Just dead. Gone. He died naked and he was beautiful. His slain body was a work of the gods. The episode ended with Sookie crying over his dead body.
RIP Alcide. You and your amazing abs will be forever missed.
HollywoodLifers, was it the right decision to kill off Alcide? Will you miss him? His abs? What do you think of James and Lafayette? Are you glad Eric’s back with a vengeance? Let us know!
