Justin Bieber superfan Alicia Tamboia tragically died in a car accident on July 4. After her death, Beliebers around the world trended #RIPAlicia in her honor. Now, those close to the 24-year-old are speaking out about how amazing she was.
Alicia Tamboia, one of Justin Bieber‘s most passionate and devoted fans, died in a multi-vehicle car accident in New York on Friday night. After her death, fans from around the world — and Justin himself — tweeted in her honor. And now, two of Alicia’s coaches are speaking about the “great kid.”
Alicia Tamboia’s Coach Speaks Out: She Was A ‘Great Kid’
This is so devastating. Alicia was a 2008 graduate of Dover High School in New York — and her school’s Athletic Director, Bob Esposito, is opening up about Alicia’s amazing spirit.
“She was a three-squad athlete, but she was really into field hockey,” Bob tells the Poughkeepsie Journal. “Great kid. Good student. Dedicated to athletics — hands down. Popular, lot of friends, nice girl.”
Alicia was on the hockey, basketball and softball teams at her high school. Teacher Kim Knittel, who coached Alicia in basketball, echoed Bob’s thoughts.
“She was a go-getter. She just had a good work ethic. She had so many plans. She was tough. She was always the one that was taking charges. A no-nonsense type of kid — which is great for a coach,” Kim told the Poughkeepsie Journal.
What a sad situation for everyone who knew and loved Alicia. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Justin noticed the thousands of tweets honoring his fan — and he ultimately paid tribute to Alicia himself. In the early morning hours of July 6, he tweeted:
“#RIPAlicia” to his 52.7 million Twitter followers. There’s a lot that can be said about Justin, but everyone can agree that the singer truly loves and cares about his fans.
