The story of 22-month old Cooper Harris’ death continues to get more and more heartbreaking as new details from the investigation come to light. The toddler desperately tried to free himself from the hot car, according to a report.
Justin Ross Harris, 33, currently sits in a Georgia prison while he waits for a grand jury trial in the shocking death of his son Cooper Harris. On July 3, a judge ruled that there is “probable cause” to charge Justin with charges of murder and child cruelty and denied his bond. More gruesome details from Cooper’s struggle have been revealed in court.
Cooper Harris: Toddler ‘Strugged To Escape’ From Hot Car
Warning: The details from this trial are very upsetting.
New information from Cobb County Police Department Detective Phil Stoddard‘s testimony at Justin’s July 3 trial have been discovered. During the trial, Detective Stoddard said that injuries and abrasion’s on Cooper’s face, body and back of head show that he tried to escape the hot car where he ultimately died.
“It would have come from the child or a scratch being made while the child was alive and then not healing or scabbing over or anything after that, soon after he passed away,” the detective said about Cooper’s injuries, according to Mail Online.
Cooper’s car seat was set on the lowest level while he was left in the hot car, which means the 22-month-old was strapped in as tightly as possible to the seat.
The report also suggests that Cooper spent his last moments scratching himself in the face with his nails and rubbing his head against the back of his car seat, likely trying to escape.
Justin’s wife and Cooper’s mom, Leanna Harris, was present in the courtroom while the detective spoke.
Justin Ross Harris: Judge Finds Probable Cause For Murder
Now that probable cause for murder has been found, Justin has been denied bail — he will remain in jail until he faces a grand jury in Georgia. He has pleaded not guilty on all of the charges.
During this hearing, it was also revealed that Justin was sexting with multiple women while his son was slowly dying inside of a vehicle for hours due to hyperthermia from the extreme heat.
We are so devastated that an innocent 22-month-old boy was allegedly killed in a gruesome manner by one of the people who is supposed to love and protect a child the most — his father. What do YOU think about all of this, HollywoodLifers? Do you believe Justin is guilty?
