‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ is just about to hit theaters, and we have 5 reasons why Mark Wahlberg will be amazing in the lead role.
The 4th installment of the Transformers franchise hits theaters on June 27, and with Mark Wahlberg in the driver’s seat for Age Of Extinction, we’re so confident he’ll kill it that we want you to be, too — see below for 5 reasons why Mark will have Michael Bay‘s latest robot-filled, blow-’em-up, big-budget extravaganza on lock.
1. The Franchise Needed A Shake-Up
OK, so we know that robots and fights and robot fights are not super complex or anything, but with a new lead — Mark, in favor of Shia LaBeouf — Mark is sure to excite audiences just by virtue of being fresh meat.
2. Mark’s Character Is Someone You Can Root For
Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky was kiiind of a self-important brat; you know it’s true. Mark’s character, Cade Yeagar, is a single father to Tessa (Nicola Peltz), and a struggling inventor, and the kind of guy you can root for.
3. This Isn’t Mark’s First Action Role
Mark’s film career hasn’t stuck to one genre, and it’s a show of his versatility and talent rather than indecisiveness. From comedy, in Ted, to drama, in The Lovely Bones, to thrillers, like The Departed — for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. However, he was also in action films like Max Payne, The Italian Job, 2 Guns, and more! Don’t worry — Mark’s got this. Shia did a fantastic job with the first three, and his action cred was fairly nonexistent.
All right, so this doesn’t have so much to do with Mark as it has to do with Dinobots!! Age Of Extinction marks the first time that the Dinobots make an appearance. They’re a whole new class of Transformers, who, unlike the Autobots or the Decepticons, transform into dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. How dope is that? If you don’t want to see Mark Wahlberg act around a group of dinosaur-robot-aliens, then I don’t wanna know you.
