Sia, 38, is an unbelievable singer and pure songwriting genius. After wowing the crowd at the LGBT gala days ago with her song “Chandelier,” the Australian star is getting candid in a confession-filled interview about her drug-using past, her bipolar disorder and even her parent who had multiple personalities.
Sia has been open about the fact that she’s bipolar. In a new interview, she links it to her early drug use. “I don’t think it’s f****d up childhood [that caused my bi-polar disorder], in my case. I refrain from blaming anything on my parents. What I do think is that I smoked too much pot when I was a kid. I think it f****d my brain up,” she reveals to The Howard Stern Show.
In the interview, Sia also opens up about her unusual childhood with her father, who had dual personalities. “I do find him amusing. I think it’s the only way to function within the relationship. Growing up he had two very unique personalities. One was called Phil and one was called Stan… Phil was like the best dad ever… He was fun but he was eloquent and he was present and interesting and interested. When Stan came around stuff got scary,” Sia says.
Wow. We applaud Sia for being so open about how she believes using drugs as a teen caused her later trauma. Being so open takes serious guts!
While Sia’s performance for President Barack Obama has thrust her into the spotlight, the blonde babe has actually been well known for years. While Sia is an amazing singer, she’s actually more well-known for her radio-friendly songwriting skills. Sia wrote Rihanna‘s “Diamonds,” Beyonce‘s “Pretty Hurts,” Lea Michele‘s “Cannonball,” and David Guetta‘s “Titanium,” to name a quick few. She’s beyond talented!
