Jeremy Meeks, 30, has lived much of his life behind bars. The husband and father of one has been in and out of jail since 2002 on suspicion of grand theft auto and gang activity, but the smooth criminal’s family insists that Jer has turned his life around.
Jeremy’s niece, who lives in Florida, is opening up about her Internet-famous uncle. “He is a loving father, husband, brother and uncle,” Jeremy’s niece tells Mail Online. “He has a past and because of it he is being stereotyped. We wish all the judgement would stop… He just wants to get home to his family.”
Jeremy’s niece claims her uncles life of crime ended when he settled down with his wife, had a son and discovered a higher power. “He gave his heart to God, that is why he changed,” she reveals. When pressed about why Jeremy was carrying a gun the night he was put in the slammer, his niece admits she’s not sure, but doesn’t think it wasn’t for anything deadly. “I assure you IF it was his he wasn’t using it for terrorism or anything remotely close,” she explains. Well — that’s good.
The niece also opens up about what Jeremy’s wife thinks of his newfound sex symbol status. “She just wants everything to go back to normal,” she confesses. With Jeremy’s female fanbase growing bigger by the day, we’re guessing Jeremy’s “normal” after-jail life will still be VERY different from the past.
Jeremy’s smokin-hot mugshot inspired a new Twitter trend on June 20 — #FelonCrushFriday! The newest internet sensation started a full-on worldwide trend on Friday with thousands of people posting photos of Jeremy, Orange Is The New Black cast mates and sexy-but-convicted inmates from around the globe. It seems like Jer is quickly becoming the world’s most swooned after bad boy.
