Crouched down in front of them are the three stars of the film — O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Ice Cube’s son who will play his father; Corey Hawkins who will play Dre; and Jason Mitchell, who will play Eazy. The stars were signed off by the original members of course, and Tomica Wright, Eazy-E’s widow. The movie will film in Compton.

However, the search for the rest of N.W.A is still going on. Ice Cube tweeted that he was “still looking” for someone to play MC Ren and DJ Yella.

“This is our legacy, you can’t play with this, there’s no cutting corners,” Ice Cube recently told MTV News. “I’m fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right. I’m totally involved, I’m engulfed in it.”

According to Universal, here is the first official description of the film:

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country.  When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation.  Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.

Are you excited for the film, HollywoodLifers?
