Bad news for Breezy fans. While it’s still unclear whether Chris will attend the BET Awards in LA on June 29, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that he will definitely NOT be performing at the event.
Chris Brown totally stole the show with his surprise performance and duet with Nicki Minaj at last year’s BET Awards on June 30, 2013. But unfortunately the “Fine China” singer, who was recently released from jail on June 2, has NOT been asked to perform at this year’s show. Here’s what we know.
Will Chris Brown Perform At BET Awards? — Why Singer Won’t Be Performing
Chris, 25, has been throwing himself into his music after his three-month stint in jail, but apparently he won’t have the opportunity to show off his freshly honed talents at the upcoming BET Awards.
“There have been no rehearsals set for Chris Brown for an individual performance, he hasn’t been attached to anyone else’s performances and he is not scheduled to perform at the show,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Even the last time he was the secret performance a few years ago, people knew it was him, and there have been zero rumors going around that that will happen again. So a Chris Brown performance is not happening this year.”
The BET also confirms to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, “All talent confirmed to-date has been posted to www.betpressroom.com on the press releases page; unfortunately we have no information on Chris Brown attendance.”
Artists who are set to perform at the show this year include Lil Wayne, Lionel Richie, Pharrell Williams, Drake, Usher, Trey Songz, Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige.
As bummed as we are that Chris won’t be performing, we’re betting the news hit him even harder. Chris has been trying his best to turn his life around after jail and prove himself to his fans again, and if this BET snub is anything to go by, it looks like he’s got his work cut out for him.
Chris Brown Will Tour His Upcoming Album ‘X’ Despite Legal Troubles
Despite this setback, Chris is determined to rebuild his career, starting by releasing his new album X and then taking it on tour.
“The tour will be in conjunction with the album and that will happen this year,” a source close to Chris tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “We are just waiting on RCA to release a date.”
So what do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited to hear Chris’ new X album? Do you wish he was performing at the 2014 BET Awards? Let us know!
