Chris Brown has just caught a break for his alleged D.C. assault trial, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned, and he may not even have to appear in court at all! Details below!
Is Chris Brown made of Teflon? The lucky 25-year-old singer has just caught a break in the case for his alleged assault in Washington, D.C. in October. HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that Chris’ trial date has not only been postponed, but that he may not even have to be present! Read on for all the details!
Chris Brown’s Trial Date Postponed; May Not Have To Appear For Status Hearing
It was originally reported that the prosecutor in the D.C. case, Ronald C. Machen, wanted to have the trial as early as possible — on June 25 — and would use the probation violation hearing that landed Chris in the first place as the means to get that.
It was requested that the status hearing that was scheduled for June 25 to be changed to a trial hearing because Chris admitted to committing a crime in D.C. However, he was referring to his probation violation and not to the assault which Chris’ bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, had already confessed to.
That said, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that a D.C. judge has denied the request on June 17 to convert the status hearing, on the basis of the fact that, as Chris’ attorneys Mark Geragos and Danny Onorato put it in the court docs, that “an attempt to a speedy resolution of this case through a motion to convert the status date to a trial date only hamstrings Mr. Brown’s rights to a fair trial which we are sure is not the Government’s intent.” You tell ’em.
Chris Brown: Trial Date A Mystery, But It Won’t Happen June 25
Furthermore, it’s unlikely that Chris need even show up to the status hearing on June 25, our source reveals. It’s basically just a legal status update, and while a trial date could be set at the time, no one really knows at this point.
To refresh your memory on the D.C. assault case, a man named Parker Adams claims that he was just trying to photobomb a pic that Chris was taking with two girls in October, when Chris and his bodyguard allegedly started beating on him.
So, it looks like Chris’ next album, X, will be coming at us sooner than we thought! What do you think, HollywoodLifers? How will Chris celebrate? Maybe with girlfriend Karrueche Tran? Are you happy that Chris is off the hook? Check out the court docs, freshen up on your legal jargon, and let us know!
