A devoted super-fan has created an animated video of the musical ‘The Book Of Mormon,’ set entirely in the ‘South Park’ world, and it is amazing to say the least! So what would a ‘Book of Mormon‘ TV show look like, you ask? Read on to watch!
Simon Chong is a genius. The creative director of a London design agency called Headspin Media, Simon has taken The Book Of Mormon‘s opening number, “Hello,” and animated it, South Park-style. Call the creators of South Park (and The Book of Mormon), Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and get this man a job!
‘The Book Of Mormon’/’South Park’ Mashup — Watch
We all know that almost anything goes in the South Park world. So a super-fan took his love for the show and for the Tony Award Winning broadway play and made musical gold!
In the video, a handful of wide-eyed, singing mormons take to the streets of the small Colorado town. They knock on the doors of star characters like Stan, Kenny’s Mom, Ike and even Jesus, to sing praise of their profound religion. We love that the only character to not open his door to a dancing Mormon was Chef. Classic!
Although the video and Simon have no affiliation to either of the two shows, it is on point with a striking resemblance. The video is well-crafted and surprisingly looks just like a standard episode of South Park. We don’t know how he did it, but Simon fit his video into the show perfectly, brilliantly using South Park‘s season 7 episode “All About Mormons” as a backdrop.
South Park Has Talented Devoted Fans
Simon made it clear on YouTube that he was in fact just showing genuine love for the two shows and was not trying to rip either of them off.
“The animation I’ve made is in absolutely no way affiliated with either South Park or The Book of Mormon,” he wrote in the video’s description. “It was made out of a genuine love for both the TV show and the stage musical. All rights belong to the respective companies and I hope so much that they don’t kill me for what I’ve made!”
We hope Simon makes more videos, because we throughly enjoyed this one! Time to play it again for the sixth time this morning!
What do you think, HollywoodLifers, can you tell the difference between Simon’s version from a real South Park episode? Let us know!
