This week brought more contestants and more amazing talent! So who made it through and who didn’t quite make the cut?
Week four of the season 9 auditions brought some of the most talented acts we’ve seen this season so far on America’s Got Talent! On the June 17 episode, Heidi Klum,Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B were easily won over by powerful voices and fast-paced salsa dancers. Read on to find out who made the cut!
‘America’s Got Talent’: Week Four Auditions Start Out Soulful
The auditions started out on a high note with a soulful singer/songwriter, Emily West, 32. Emily had an Old Hollywood glamour look with pin-up curls and a red gown. Her voice was so powerful and soulful — it’s no surprise she won the judges over right away!
The next act definitely shook things up! The Baila Conmigo salsa dancing studio were amazing. There were four couples who took the stage originally and were all in sync and moving incredibly fast. The judges and the crowd went crazy when, out of nowhere, children from the studio came out and finished the dance perfectly. Baila Conmigo received four “sí” from the judges.
Rachel Butera, 42, came out and showed her impressive skills as an impersonator. She was hilarious and did perfect impersonations of Wanda Sykes, Whoopi Goldberg, and Joan Rivers! Rachel had already appeared on Howard’s talk show, so he was not able to vote. However, she received a unanimous yes from the other three judges and Rachel is on her way to become America’s next big comedian.
Legaci was definitely one of the best acts we’ve seen on the AGT stage this season! The four men Acapella group seemed shy and nervous when they first hit the stage — they would barely speak to the judges! However, when they opened their mouths and started singing, Howard described them as “godlike” — we do have to agree, they were pretty amazing! This won’t be the last time we hear from Legaci.
Mat Franco is a self-taught magician who took his act over to the judges table to tell a story through his cards. Mat linked the card numbers with the story he was telling, and he even made the judge’s faces appear on the cards themselves. It was truly something that we have never seen before and the judges agreed! It was more than a card trick, it was a full card routine. The charismatic magician will move on!
A U.S. Army Soldier Stuns Crowd With Amazing Voice
Paul Ieti explained that music helped to keep him calm while overseas fighting for our country in the U.S. Army. After it looked like Paul missed his cue to start singing, he started singing and the crowd went wild. He had a breathtaking voice and hit the high notes just like Rihanna as he sang her hit “Stay.” Mel B, Heidi, and Howard each went up on stage and gave Paul a huge hug. Needless to say, Paul will continue on with Heidi calling him a “superstar.”
Christian Stoinev, a fifth generation circus performer, performed a hand-balancing act that was pretty impressive. He balanced his entire body weight, which he said was about 180-pounds, on one finger that was sticking in a glass bottle. The judges all passed him through, but it was Heidi and Mel who loved him (and his buff body) the most!
The Bikini-Wearing Opera Singer
31-year-old opera singer, Maggie Lane, had the crowd interested in more than just her singing when she stripped down to just a bikini in the middle of her song! It looks like Maggie has been working on her physique along with her vocal cords, because they were both incredible. Maggie moved on to the next stage!
The first “no” of the night went to the act who claimed he was a $10 million act, ironically enough. Although The Doctor Benji played multiple instruments and sang, the judges suggested he focus his act on just one talent.
The Magical Voice Doctor claimed she could transform the notoriously terrible singer — Howard — into a decent singer. Despite her best efforts, it looks like Howard really just doesn’t have any talent — other than radio! The judges weren’t crazy about the Voice Doctor and she was sent home.
The 12-year-old stand-up , Josh Orlian, had never performed in front of a large crowd until he hit the AGT stage. Josh was incredibly nervous, but as soon as he started his routine, he loosened up. His jokes were a little inappropriate to say the least, but even so, he entertained the crowd and moved on to the next round!
The show closed with an aerialist, Laura Dasi, who was inspired to follow her dreams after being diagnosed with alopecia. Laura put on an amazing show to “All Of Me” by John Legend. The judges described her act as “mesmerizing,” and Mel B even said that she didn’t “want the show to end.” This won’t be the last time we see Laura!
