As Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta fans could see on the June 9 episode, Waka Flocka Flame was absolutely crushed by his brother KayO Redd‘s Dec. 2013 suicide. And while everyone tweeted support to Waka and prayers to KayO as the show aired last night, it turned out Waka was also watching, and reliving that unbelievably emotional moment when he lost his brother.
KayO’s suicide may have been nearly six months ago, but Waka’s pain is clearly still raw — and watching Love & Hip Hop deal with it only brought back those painful feelings. During the episode Waka tweeted:
This shit feels so bad #LoveYouKayo #LLKAYO I’m good I’m good
— Waka Flocka Flame (@WakaFlockabsm) June 10, 2014
He then tweeted one last tribute to KayO, a series of emojis and a picture of his brother:
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇😇 Damn Kayo Damn I FUCKING MISS YOU pic.twitter.com/LReNIrUZE5 — Waka Flocka Flame (@WakaFlockabsm) June 10, 2014
Waka was extremely emotional while opening up in the Love & Hip Hop episode — and we can only imagine how hard it was for him to watch himself in the episode and relive all the things he felt when KayO took his life.
Fortunately, Waka can lean on his fans in this tough time — the outpouring of support for the Atlanta rapper during the episode was truly overwhelming. As Waka was shown coping with his brother’s death, the phrase “Aww Waka” even began trending!
These are just a few tweets showing love and support:
if Waka’s family story didn’t touch you , you have no soul #lahhatl
