Nia Sanchez of Nevada was named Miss USA at the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 8, and I think she couldn’t be more worthy of the crown! Here’s why.
Nia Shanchez beat out 50 other impressive contestants for the coveted title of Miss USA, and it’s no wonder why. Not only is the beauty queen totally stunning, but she’s also smart, strong and stylish — she’s everything Miss USA should be and then some!
Nia Sanchez Crowned Miss USA 2014: Why Miss Nevada Deserved To Win
Miss Nevada, 24, is a truly unique contestant and so much more than just another pretty face. Nia is a cultured world traveler, a Tae Kwon Do master and a real-life Disney Princess! She is also the first beauty queen in the competition’s history to ever win from the state of Nevada!
The half-Hispanic stunner is also invested in helping others, and even traveled to Thailand, the Great Wall of China and even Mexico for mission trips in 2009.
One of the most impressive things about Nia is her strength and eloquence, both of which the fourth-degree black belt used to her advantage when answering one of the toughest final questions of the night.
When judge Rumer Willis asked Nia what should be done about colleges sweeping reports of sexual violence under the rug, Nia gave a surprisingly smart answer.
“I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation and that would be a reason it could be swept under the rug, because they don’t want that to come out into the public.
“But I think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves,” she added. “Myself, as a fourth-degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And I think that’s something that we should start to really implement for a lot of women.”
Amazing! Nia seemed a little nervous when answering the challenging question, but she totally held it together, which also shows great courage!
Miss USA 2014: Nia Sanchez Stunned In Swim & Evening Wear
Of course, Miss USA IS a beauty competition at heart, and Nia totally knocked in out of the park in that department, too.
She showed off her tan, toned bikini body in the swimsuit competition before wowing the crowd once again in a stunning red satin gown that brought to mind a real-life Jessica Rabbit.
As far as I’m concerned, Nia is perfection personified and she totally earned the crown that she’s rocking so well!
